This KFC thing in Japan is real.
And it is scary. You have to order your buckets in advance.

You smell that? Knowledge, son. Nothing else in the world smells like that.
I love the smell of knowledge in the morning. You know, one time we had to actually learn tech to use it. When that era was all over, we walked the malls. We couldn't find a one, not one stinkin educated user. The smell, you know, that clean cubicle smell. Smelled like... bullshit.
Someday progress is gonna end.
We will have a bunch of self-interested, self-informed experts in here, all praising the progress of this half-arsed technology, bemoaning how the technically inept cavemen of the ham field are holding us all back.
Do yourselves a favor and don't do that. This is horrible, careless design and you're not the smart expert you think you are.
Statements like these show me that Netflix is grounded and aware of reality, and know when they will suffer lulls and when they will have booms. Instead of blowing smoke up the investor's nethers, it's kind of refreshing to see a statement like 'yeah our viewership is going to suck this weekend, heard of the olympics?'
The LAST thing Sony should be doing is trying to make a custom content network. You're basically advising them to jump right back into the pattern of making an overpriced copy of what everyone else has already beaten them at.
what sony needs right now is a more outward and cooperative attitude with existing networks, signing leases with netflix et al to let them do what they do best, while funneling money to sony's cofferd without the senseless expense of trying to recreate what is already available.
Had it almost since they started offering it, have been pleased since. It's unobtrusive, sleek, and easy to use.
It's a bit unfair for MS to use the windows update channel to offer this, yes, but they already DO the 'vote page' in Win7's notification center if it tells you you lack an antivirus.
I can't find the exact link, but here's a close one

A lot of things got changed here that didn't need changing. Audio problems are omnipresent, the perfectly acceptable Pidgin messenger has been replaced with Empathy. A wealth of X server issues have cropped up, causing black screens with hard to trace causes. Proprietary driver activation has become buggy, and program crashes are routine instead of rare.
All in all, a very underwhelming release. You can do better, Canonical.
