FTC pulls emergency brake on Microsoft's marriage to Activision Blizzard

Re: "Microsoft is appealing against the [CMA]'s final decision"

Well after the dropping of nearly finished PS versions, it is NOT in the gamers benefit.

And before people say things.

Most PS only studios were small ones nurtured by Sony, and their most recent acquitision in still multi platform.

Oh and MS, I still remember what you did to Netware!

Re: Triple-A gaming is a mess and a ripoff

My most recent purchase was a sale copy of Horizon Forbidden West, 150 hours in for 25 quid.

A nice big backlog so still no need for a current generation console.

Indies.

You get weird stuff like

Journey

Everyones gone to the rapture

Unfinished Swan

All of moderate length finishable in a reasonable time but remain in memory.

I reckon the canning of Playstation versions sealed the refusal.

Re: Pity

After the wrecking of Arkane, I want to see stuff like this blocked.

I loved the Dishonoured games.

The PS5 version of Redfall was pulled even though under development and the rest was rushed to market.

Sorry but Activision, no concern for me, but Arkane!!!!

Re: Someone mentioned TAS !

We export transations to accounts packages.

Sage Line 50 OK - CSV

Sage Sovereign OK but AFAIK none left - CSV

Sage MMS TAS OK - CSV

Xero OK - CSV

QB gave up, buy something else.

Favourite was Pegasus Opera, I can open their data up quite happily but the reverse yes no, no I do not want to wipe the system, system wiped. - 2 x DBFs

There are a few other outliers.

MJI Silver badge

Any left?

Some people are giving up Sage 50 due to forced web versions, QB is a dead duck anyway, a licence for the ability to write an import module was more expensive than just going to Sage WITH importer. They changed to line 50.

Sage MMS/TAS still seems OK.

Xero appears to be the new small one.

Just work like google news, provide 4 or 5 sources on the subject, witha headline and very short sumamry

Re: Do people really only use Facebook?

That is why I use a search engine aggregrator such as google

MJI Silver badge

Re: Do people really only use Facebook?

I LIKE news aggregation, main use for Google I find.

It enables you to skim a few sources to see which is more trustable on a subject.

Aggregating is not the end place but a search to other sites of interest.

Re: And if the car behind you hasn't got ABS ?

Those white lines coming up to a roundabout. I had one car which was upset by them and the ABS would constantly trigger, basically no brakes, may as well been ice.

Fix was coast up to the end then slam on hard AFTER all of the white lines just before the roundabout.

Was only that one place which had the issue.

If there was an election the winner would be either a fictional character such as Peppa Pig, Thomas the Tank Engine, or Mr Blobby, or a memeber of the Mountbatten Windor family.

I know what my next console is

There are a few decent games that have been demultiplatformed recently, all MS acquisitions with PS versions cancelled.

I do need a new console to play some newer games, but still have a small back log to clear.

The games I most want to play are on PS, so I will get a 5. Still getting a LOT of use out of my 4, enough to put 3 controllers through stick hospital.

Now every recent console has stick issues, will the three main companies sort that out first!!!!

As to Sony and their exclusives.

NDI and GG were bought when small, both were heading to 2nd party exclusive anyway. Insomniac still do the odd other one.

MJI Silver badge

Console choice

As I explained it ages ago.

I want another games console, old cartridge ones out of date.

Do I go for the console from the company who fucked over lots of other companies, making my job hell, constant changing of network clients because the latest update broke the previous weeks, who force out better NOSes for their own crap?

Or do I go for a console made by the same company as my TV and video camera?

Re: As an aside

I remember doing it twice.

Many years ago I was cruising up lane 1 in low 60s due to rain, passed an outside lane hogger doing arou mid 50s

More recently towing in lane 1 at slightly over towing speed, but under mway speed, passed a MLOC going slightly slower with a Police car watching, as I was not allowed in lane 3.

MJI Silver badge

M5 the same, nearly empty MWay so stuck to real lane 1 at around 70 and an idiot doing around 90-100 zooms up the inside of me on the hard shoulder lane because I refused to use it.

There were two lanes to my right, pity no broken down HGV for them to decorate.

Quite a few years I have had a blow out before at speed, I WANT A HARD SHOULDER!

That time I parked on a Police car ramp for extra safety (right front).

Re: Windows 10 the last Windows you will ever need

My PC was state of art when built and that was a while ago.

Only needs SSD and more RAM, but compatible RAM is NLA.

Not enough ram for newer OSes, so 10 would be a dog, 11 impossible according to MS, the ONLY software it strugges with is Teams, and some CAD work, both would be RAM fixable.

I hate having to replace working things simply due to someone elses whim. Had this with Freeview kit losing support.

Re: When a product is better, people will naturally switch to it

Beta was better, in quite a few ways.

So why is the standard long tape have a longer recording time on PAL Beta (L750 is 195 minutes)?

No long play but that was messy anyway.

Better picture on the decks I used.

Tape to tape is much much better with no degrade of sync pulses.

Anyway now on to PVRs, HDV, and Blu Ray.
