Re: World beating
At first digital was much better, then they started slashing the bit rate.

Ours is fine too, just needs a new foam filter base
So far I have had to strip and clean the cyclone once in all the time we had it, why we got it is funny.
My wife wanted a Dyson we had a DC02 (I think, now in garage, power head worn out, but fine for car), her mum bought a purple newer model, but it gave her back ache as the metal pipe was too short. So she bought something else and my wife grabbed the Dyson.
My wife then extended the metal pipe and it was fine.
We still use it.
3 Dyson products, support can be good, but as before the washing machine is on borrowed time.
I am disappointed with Bosch, they are good enough to do this them selves, why espionage?
We have goods from both.
I am not particularly happy with Dyson at the moment. My wife's washing machine is getting tatty but spares are getting difficult, it comes up with faults but we cannot afford the callout as it is on borrowed time anyway, we would spend the £100 or so then the bearing could fail the following day and we would have wasted it.
We were considering Bosch as our fridge freezer, oven hob and car ECU are all Bosch, and reliable.
Didn't the parent company get very annoyed at this?
AFAIR it was BMG. And Japan hated it.
As to copy protection, yes I have come across it, not a Sony studio (most of their acts are useless), but I replaced it 4 or 5 times because my DVD player would not play it.
It was a Sony player (1st gen) and would only play red book CDs.
I ended up ripping and burning it!
I would say a lot of Sonys issues now are due to media problems, such as BMG, personally I like their games studios, but the rest is causing problems. And you know whose fault it is, all those people who bought the wrong VCRs.
So if you bought a Vhs VCR rather than a Beta VCR that is why Sony bought studios. I still have an indestructable Sanyo working.
I remember this well, it was on the UK Beta HiFi demo tape.
Lots of people looking surprised at the picture and sound, cannot find any online, I might have to dig it out and transfer to the PC.
Can't remember if it was with my VTCM40 or my SLHF950
My first taste of home cinema sound.
Why should I go to the effort? I have been able to use MS Word since it first appeared in Windows, I use it occasionally, like once or twice a week.
Where is File Save, File Saveas, something I am used to on lots of programs?
I have much more important things to do with my time than waste it on learning a tool I only need to use very occasionally, and one I knew how to use before they messed it up.
If I am going to sit there learning, I would rather learn something usefull, like improving my C knowleage. Now what is more useful to me, learning ribbon and what each pretty little picture does,or XML and JSON.
On my new work PC (Win7 64bit) I wanted to look at newsgroups, but I could not make head nor tail of the Win 7 Outlook Express replacement, so I took the easy route and downloaded Thunderbird. Most ribbon infected programs have non ribbon infected shareware or freeware alternatives
Well I have seen varying
Worst - I think the Nokia dodgy box was slow, IDTV was slightly better when Sony got round to writing the text software (RIP TVonics*).
After Ondodgy went bump the loan Nokia failed before they could reclaim it# So got a Pace Twin and retired the Sanyo M40, now the Pace (POS) was quicker than the TV.
Humax HDR Freesat Text, similar to the Pace, not THAT quick, rarely use it.
New Sony LCD, well that has the quickest digital text I have used.
* Where do you think TVonics came from? A few of them were from the Sony IDTV development team.
There was a time Sony bought in a cheapo PVR and rebadged, yet made a PVR badged as TVonics
# Only loan until my CAM arrived, and the software was updated to handle it. I had a first generation IDTV.
Ah the press record rubbish.
Digital text has been here since early 2000s, I think it was 2001 or similar, a bit slow at first but later decoders were faster.
I do not press red that is very silly, I always use the text button, anyway BBC it should say press green.
For a month or 2 I had to watch BBC news on delay, until a complaint got them to mention green.
An easy way of finding all thenews articles I want to read.
And I never go to sites not linked onthere as they don't exist.
Type in a common new search term eg Saville, Badger, Flooding or something like that, and see what comes up.
And more which sites do NOT come up.
BBC, Telegraph, Guardian, Independant ALWAYS come up
Mail, Yahoo, Metro, ITV OFTEN come up
Local papers here.
Mirror, Scum SOMETIMES come up
Express, Times, Star RARELY come up
Driving on right - no way, Napolian never invaded us!
Ireland - I noticed the speed limits, they said 100, but too much traffic to get over 80mph. I mentioned this to the people I was visiting, they said it was km/h, I said and the ferry comes from the UK, I did not know Ireland was metric speeds and distances,
I use both systems, miles, mph, metres, mm, kg, pints, gallons, litres ect
I want a mile & metre satnav, I hate mile & yard.
We need to stop closures of existing plant, we NEED nuclear power NOW. We need to stop waste.
If we start getting cuts I will.
smash every light in Tescos carpark and walkways, cut the power supply to the motorised adverts, disable every lamp post I can.
The above are examples of waste, we do not need lit adverts, street lights, we do not need supermarkets lit up like Christmas trees overnight.
We need power for our fridges, home lights, freezers, cooking ect ect.
