A fabulous phrase that really defines what censorship is really all about.
"... the intended meaning was still clear,"
So there you have it. Swearing is fine as long as nobody knows what you mean thus rendering language itself pointless. So it begins, fuck begets f**k from which follows... F-word? How long before "F-word" and the like become just as offensive because "the intended meaning was still clear"?
To the ASA, all I can say is, the phrase symbolizing a word or words which may imply some form of carnal knowledge on your part. Oh dear, I hope that wasn't too clear.
Is the choice of touchscreen due to Windows? At the garminasus website the specs for both the US model and A10 include capacitive touch. I rather prefer the styling of the A10 and the larger battery would be nice. I can't for the life of me imagine why the Win Mobile job has a resistive touchscreen, surely there must be a driver.
Actually that's pretty much how it works in Cambodia the last time I was there, but it's $20, oddly enough US currency only please. I guess $20 sounded so much cheaper than 80,000 Riel.
Now then, is all this US bashing everyone does really about that little tea incident? Here I thought it was about the things we don't like ourselves, you know the stupid political policies and warmongering. Hell, if it's just over a bit of tea I'm sure we can arrange to have it replaced with something much better, a nice pu-erh perhaps.
I was afraid the closed nature of the app store was going to turn out this way. It is way too easy for Apple to mine apps looking for easy targets to steal IP. I call this developer lucky, how many others may have been refused by iTunes only to have their intellectual property stolen and now have no easy way to prove it.
I use to wonder if Apple are still upset about the whole GUI dust bin dust up with MS so many years ago, now I know.
"... the company therefore provides access to messages in response to legitimate requests from law enforcement"
Thereby nullifying the whole point of encrypting in the first place.
As for Clinton's "legitimate right of free use and access", I have wonder if she understands that denying use and access is the primary function of most US gubber-mental agencies, DHS, FCC and FDA come immediately to mind. Typically under the auspices of protection or "for the children" but in reality, not so much.
Perhaps it isn't a single report. If you weren't so quick to fire off your [dis]missive you perhaps might have gotten to the following.
"... reference other Arctic temperature studies, all of which show a 20th-century temperature peak followed by major falls of one to two degrees - in one case with the peak occurring as late as 1990."
The question remaining is to the locale of those studies and how that might shed light on the evolution of global climate patterns. Not that you'd be interested as it could prove a distraction from your anthroclimorphic ministry. Genuflect, genuflect, genuflect.
How long should the US govt. hold us hostage? Their previous very BRUTAL acts to "deter" imaginary threats and constant security theater has already leaked the real meaning out of the Constitution to the point where it is little more than a paper wrapping for govt dross.
No really, it isn't [brand, party] loyalty that keeps people coming back to the same old crap. It is more of a devil you think you know vs. the devil you're completely clueless about with a bit of flag waving tossed in. It's all about US vs them without really knowing who US or them really are.
Over here, MS == US and Apple == US so it's ok to buy anything they make. Note that the same was true for GM and Ford until that whole quality debacle that ran from the late 70's to about last Friday. By the way, that is why we invited Toyota and Honda to build factories here, so we could adopt them as our own. Compare that with clearly foreign brands like Nokia (sounds too Korean), HTC (Hecho en Taiwan Company) and Motorola (What are they, Canucks or something? well that's not so bad).
Not to worry. If the jail break is to use the phone on another carrier then who really cares about the original Carrier TOS/Contract anyway and as long as there is a way to sneak back in jail then I imagine the warranty could still be in play.
As for the axe sharpening, I wouldn't sweat it since Apple has been doing this with every software update they push out. Both to fix jailbreaks and keep the likes of Palm out and I don't believe a kill switch of some kind hasn't been worked on already. I find it more likely that Jobs has been loath to pull that particular trigger.
"... an international forum where American trade advantages are advanced..."
Only true if you ignore those times when it slaps the U.S. like it has over cotton, lumber, textiles, steel, ball bearings and chicken to name a few. Now if we could just slough off the protectionist measures on all sides we could get on with the economic recovery in a sustainable way.
You can't have four letters in your acronym! Every alphabet soup gubbermint agency is only allowed three alphanumeric characters to make it easy for the average bloke and for nice looking reports. Once a fourth character is added the agency becomes another red headed stepchild that has to do twice as much with half the money and respect.
Yes, I know they get the job done and are more efficient than most gubbermint agencies but they just don't get the press, three letters is where the glory is. Proof? In the US there are NIST, NOAA and NASA all quietly getting the work done but NSA, DHS, DOD, SSA, CDC and IRS get all the accolades while doing work at half the quality.
Now then, learn from MI5, MoD, DfE, MoJ and GAD. So, off with you, fetch a three letter acronym and don't come back without one. No, I'll have none of that two letter talk! Don't get me started on those damn two letter acronym hooligans!
The perv patrol at the airports must be just squirming with the anticipation of deploying such a new toy on the unsuspecting masses.
"Sir, you have been chosen at random for further security screening. We just need you to submit to a quick check by our drug sniffing, explosive chemical detecting robo-wurm. Now then, please step behind the curtain and remove your trousers."
Given a known transmission medium it would be easy enough to build a speaker system specifically tuned to be highly directional, essentially a phased array. The acoustic signal produced would be very beam like and concentrated within the "beam" whereas outside the "beam" the signal is highly attenuated by the phase relationship between the arrays sources.
The interesting thing is that it would work well in strictly solid mediums but it falls apart once the structure becomes soft, has air gaps or anything where the speed of sound changes dramatically as it might in a laminated structure designed to dampen sound.
Well, that's it then. I'm off to install acoustic tile, rubber wall panels, tapestry and thick carpet over the tin foil.
"exactly how an anechoic chamber tests radio reception, he didn't say."
Can you hear me no... oh, never mind, that's someone else.
"Like Mark Twain's death, reports of the iPhone 4's reception problems have been greatly exaggerated, Jobs insisted."
He is aware that Mark Twain is, in fact, dead?

The reason you don't see anything in the letter is simple, it gets dismissed as par for the course. The claim is that the signal of every phone changes depending on how you grip it, specifically the attenuation of "its reception by 1 or more bars." They then go on to blame the formula in the software that displays the signal strength.
To sum up; your grip on the phone changes the signal on every phone, the software on the iPhone doesn't indicate that change in signal properly, we've updated the software to fix that and now it will report signal strength like every other phone. See how that works?
