Indies don't know any better about how to make a better game.
oh i disagree. take the upcoming Space Hulk release. it is _exactly_ what fans of the original board game want to play, and from the gameplay videos, not only captures what it felt like to play the board game, but enhances the experience.
which makes a refreshing change from the Fire Warrior, Space Marine, etc that W40k fans have made do with up until now.
But were there any details as to what those improvements are? It's all very well saying that, but is there anything to back it up? This time last year, I'm sure those "improvements" would have had at the top of the list BB10, the Z10, the Q10 and the Q5. So now those are crossed off the list and haven't helped, what's next?
You can only justifiably be upset that the app is now free if you've completely failed to use it at all since you bought it.
You're anger at it being free now is really just misplaced anger at yourself for buying the app too early at a price that you're clearly uncomfortable with.
IF it was worth a tenner to you at the time that you bought it, then you paid the price you were happy with at the time. IF you feel it should be free, you shouldn't have bought it at that time. You've only yourself to blame, not Apple.
But the last paragraph suggests they're able to get the dodgy code into apps that are in the Play Store. so it's not a case of replacing genuine ones from the Store, you just need your dodgy app to be in the Store and then the average punter will assume it's safe because it comes from the Store, no?
Yes, i guess it still asks for permissions, but if you'd disguised your malware as a utility app that would require those kind of permissions, how's the end user supposed to know not to allow it?
I dunno about game changing. I always preferred the wide area splash damage of the red rocket launcher in Q3A to the railgun. Always too difficult to hit the target when moving at speed - plus, you can't rocket jump with the rail gun, you just end up gib'ng yourself if you accidentally shoot your own foot...
i actually wear an iPod nano on a wrist strap and use it as a watch, and to listen to podcasts while commuting to work.
so yeah, there is a market
ideally, it'd act as a control interface to your phone. the phone in your pocket has all the processing power and the storage space, the watch on your wrist provides you with the visual clues that you have messages/mail/alarms/events/etc and also provides controls to skip tracks, play, pause, etc. And the earphones on your hear are bluetooth so there are no cables anywhere.
'cept you just need to charge the whole lot up every 2 hours....
Why don't they just close the loopholes? It's all very well naming and shaming, but if the loopholes are there, corporations and wealthy individuals are going to keep on using them.
Or would that just involve a lot of work and time and money in order to close the loopholes and save more money?
OR is it that the politicians all use these loopholes themselves and are still smarting over the battering they got over tax evasion, multiple homes and expenses claims fraud that they'd rather just decry the evilness of big corporations and hope we forget about their past wrongs?
Absolutely. Proof that flashy graphics do not make a game.
I was addicted to this when i was at school. Playing on a MacPlus, so just back and white graphics. Was still an utterly immersive game. The shock the first time you [spoilers] jump through the mirror and your reflection runs away [/spoilers] i still remember.
And then later, when you finally have to battle your evil reflection and the frustration of trying to kill him over and over until at some point the light goes on over your head and the realise what's necessary... classic gameplay!
In some ways though, I hope they don't try and revive this. The latest Tomb Raider game was very enjoyable, as a story, and was lots of fun to play, but it lacked the depth of puzzles that the original TR and TR2 had. I fear a modern Prince of Persia would be the same, very flashy to look at, even perhaps a great mystical story to follow, but it wouldn't give you the same sense of achievement that the original PoP gave you when you finally found the way to complete a level.
this is, readers of this website are more than likely to be fully aware of the importance of setting your own, strong password.
so why are we reading this story?
the types of people who need to hear this are the non-techie types. i'm not really sure they're likely to ever need to set up a personal hotspot. they'll just wait until they get home.
BUT at least their screwing them slightly less than Pandora.
Also, it's not like this model (at least in the US) is paying artist less than before.

So without Pandora/iRadio, US radio stations can play your song as much as they like, and you-get-nothing-good-day-sir
At least this way you're getting some revenue back from people listening to your music.
Did i miss the bit in the article where it answered the question in the sub-heading?
What _does_ it is mean if all our internet payments avoid Visa and Mastercard? Does the price of the items we purchase go down because the merchants aren't incurring the visa/mc charge? Or does the cost go up for all the real-world purchases that do go on the plastic because they have to increase their charges to cover the lost income?
Or does El Reg not have a clue and put that question in the sub-heading on false pretences?
we got Yammer here long before the MS purchase and were equally encouraged with become sociable with the rest of the colleagues in the office, by staying at our desks and typing to them instead of having a chat at the coffee point.
it didn't even last a year here, at the end there were only two people left posting on it, who seemed to have forgotten it was publicly viewable by the rest of the office. was quite fun to read their conversations...
does this come bundled in as part of the Blackberry license that we already pay for BES? or is it a bolt-on feature? because, we already pay for a Good license so that we can read our emails securely on Android and iOS. so if the cost is included, then we could make a saving by rolling this out
I've always been a PG Tips drinker, of course these days it's the pyramid bags. but that's likely as much through habbit as anything else, but folks always bought PG Tips so its the brand i buy too.
not sure if i've tried Yorkshire Gold though, i shall give is a go.
the missus had a funny turn and decided she wanted lots of fruit teas, so we spent a small fortune ordering a bunch of weird flavours from Twinings for her. i snuck a selection box of their more normal teas (Earl Grey, Prince of Wales, Breakfast, etc etc) and while they were nice, for a change, the most refreshing and revitalising cuppa in the morning or the end of the day was from a humble PG Tips.
Plus, when i were a lad, they had the adverts with the chimps. and now, they have adverts with Johnny Vegas and a monkey. you gotta give them points for consistency over the years :)
either carry cash (although, presumably at some point you need to use a card to get it from an ATM, or travel to your nearest branch, during business hours on weekdays)
or multiple cards with a range of different banks. it's unlikely they're ALL going to go offline at once, provided no Acts of Tyler Durden.
Where i work, if someone turns up in the morning wearing a suit and tie they're always greeted with a cheery "interview or court case?" welcome. And then if they take a longer-than-usual lunch hour, you suspect it was the interview option.
But now, whenever someone books 5 days leave, you won't know if they're taking a much needed break in the Lake District or applying for a new job!
So they've reorganised, restructured, and with this they'll presumably pay off a lot of debt.
But have they announced what their new products are going to be?
Nothing's changed, because people still aren't buying old fashioned film, or getting holiday snaps printed developed. They're far from being a presence in the digital market.

Yes, they'll no longer be bankrupt. But how are they going to make enough money in order to stay that way?
Can you cook it at all? it looks like batter, so can you make pancakes out of it?
Then you could spice the flavour up with some fried bacon, and sausages, and tomato, scrambled egg, muschrooms, beans, a couple of slices of fried bread, ketchup and HP sauce. Could be a really tasty breakfast. although might be better to leave out the weird-pancake and just have the other stuff :)
5.7 inches isn't very far away from the iPad Mini size. a 6 inch phone is practically like holding a tablet to the side of your head.
i'll be very surprised if this actually comes to market as a phone.
it could easily be the screen they are testing a remote control for the AppleTV or something.
Exploring doesn't mean they're going into large scale production, just means someone at Apple has presumably ordered a few of these for R&D
it's you confusing "not found guilty in court" with "didn't do it". Those two things are very different.
but equally, "not found guilty in court" is not the same as "did do it"
sometimes the cost of the settlement is much less than the cost of losing at court. and going to court is just a gamble that your lawyers are better than the opposition. the truth doesn't really have any bearing in a court case.
the publishers evidently don't have that confidence in their legal teams.

Shall be thoroughly missed. Reading his books felt like a formative part of my teenage years, and ever since. I'd always assumed he'd always have a new book every year or two. I always say Use Of Weapons is my favourite book (he said at a book signing that he wrote it as a coherent story, but when he showed the first draft to a friend they suggested he fold the story in two), but when i think about it, it's hard to really pick one above the other.
Canal Dreams is the one i really didn't get into. I asked him what went wrong with it at another book signing and he agreed it wasn't his best. He said of all the other books, there's at least an element of himself in them. But when he wrote it, he'd not been to that part of the world, didn't play the chello and wasn't a woman, so that might explain it.
I guess just thankful we've had such great books to enjoy all these years, and can enjoy them all again in the future. And sad there won't be any more like them :(
