I think what Anna failed to make clear is that, even though Apple have been using this for ages (since the very first iPhone i think) the patent office has only now got around to approving their patent application for it.

how does that work? there's nothing in the rules that says paper has to be shown as palm up, or that rock is anything more than a clenched fist - you can have your hand horizontal (so your wrist would be the same as if showing paper with palm down) or vertical and so wrist is in same orientation as scissors.

In fact, no reason why paper has to be shown horizontally either.

So it's got a front camera, and no rear camera. That make sense, since who really wants to use a tablet sized device to take photographs (other than Galaxy S3 users, obviously).

But by the same measure, who's going to want to carry around a tablet and use that to pay for coffee and underground tickets? I can see NFC being a great addition to a phone, but on a tablet? really?

didn't Palm try to do something much like that? Although in that case, they were making the Pre look like an iPhone to iTunes weren't they? And had to constantly release updates to keep working around Apple's own updates?

I take it this uses a different method? I can see how they can migrate the data, but how to they get the Galaxy to show in iTunes to allow users to manage it?

i've been wanting those cufflinks for ages now since they were first announced. screw you lot, i think they're damn cool, okay! :)

but they're always quite expensive really so i just can't justify them to myself. they'll eat far too much into my savings-up for the next iPhone....

Not sure that the Vita is going to be as amazing as they make out - it has the potential, but I suspect they'll fail to deliver the key killer features that'll make it an invaluable piece of your day, or they'll take ages to do it.

That said, they're right about the Wii U controller. It's far too big and clumsy and it's going to be the only device in the world that isn't multi-touch enabled.

Still, at least they've thought outside the box. This is not so much a tablet, then, as a ultra book with detachable keyboard? It's a good idea, but you're not going to be able to type on that keyboard on the train unless you're in the posh carriages with the tables.

So what happens to this when world+dog rejects Windows8 because of it's conjunctive twin Metro, and MS is forced to perform surgery and rush out Windows9 with a useable interface?

I've had my 11" since it's release in 2010 and i can tell you exactly how many times i've needed to plug an ethernet cable into it - that number is one less than the times i've wished to do so, which was once when it would have saved me walking from the lounge to the other room to use my iMac to check the network.

Sure i can see that you might prefer an ethernet connection if using it in an office every day for work, but then in that case, you surely should be using a MacBookPro instead.

the price of the 15" mbpwrd is high, but you can kinda justify it to yourself (if not to the missus, but then she's unlikely to spot that it's a new laptop if you hide the boxes).

but for a 13" machine, the price is going to have to be a lot closer to the current 13" price point. Will the cost of the screens really come down enough for that to happen by October? That seems a little soon to me.

And does this suggest that perhaps there might also be a 17" mbpwrd next year with the pro desktops get their refresh?

Surely no one puts this much effort into avoiding questioning unless they're really blatantly guilty of the rape and harassment charges and they know full well they don't stand a chance once the trial begins.

I'd say his efforts to avoid cooperating with the authorities so far should be more than enough to demonstrate his guilt and convict him of the crime. Let him hang!

this can't be the problem that you make it out to be

use an external drive. thunderbolt offers enough speed to be very nearly as good as an internal drive, surely.

also, if editing video is that important, surely you're already doing it on a desktop MacPro, or you're using an old-style MacBook Pro with an external large screen. No one is doing this quality video editing on the train on the way the work are they??
