Arn't they lucky....
... that they didn't won real farcebook shares, as they could have lost even more money!

Redhat, Suse, VMware, Citrix, appasure and all the other middlewear stuff comes to mind.
Never mind the SAN/Networking stuff
How much income do Dell make on desktops compared to server, storage and services revenue?
I'd wager a lot...
...purchased a dell RT at Xmas and loves it. It's a great little system for use as a fondleslab for home use.
Yes it is annoying with it's windows homegroup crap, but that aside the battery life is great, the camera is great for skype calls etc, and lastly the video is great for watching flics in bed.
As for the target market? People like me who are bored of droids?
Thanks for the downvotes :)
Only for users of said webservers that also have the libjavaplugin linked to the browser - when's that going to happen? It's a webserver, not a workstation :)
Saying that, I only installed the javaplugin three days ago so as to use webex on my laptop, it is now disabled.
+1 mate, really disappointing movie. Has Scott totally forgotten how to make a decent flic?
Alien was brill - and actually scary - Blade Runner was excellent. Even today both movies looks as fresh as you like, yet this was tripe. Why??? Too much CGI maybe?
Yer man Fassbender was truly excellent though - where did this guy come from.. every movie he's been is has been class. I'd watch it again for him alone.
I'm currently doing a BSc in IS & IT - management, project management, databases, coding along with the usual sciencey bits. Even though I have another degree, and many multiples of industry certs, I have found what I have learned so far to be of great help is my job - in IT.
One year to go for the finals and then I'll likely do an MSc in something, or another degree in yet another field (for a laugh). Sure it gets me out of the house!
If you want to advance in IT then it is a great start. Plus employers will take you more seriously.
I cannot speak for the newer lenovo's but the X60s & X61s's are rock solid.
Case in point - my daughter dropped BOTH of them down the stairs - from the top, yet they work fine.
I've dropped them off the coach many times, no issues. My son is a disaster zone and manages to drop things when you tell him to be careful - yet they still work flawlessly.
My daughter dropped my ibook ONCE, it died horrifically - the screen came off completely, parts across the floor - this was the same drop that the thinkpads endured with hardly a scratch.
As for Dells, I can only speak of their business range, but I am very happy with my latitude, only complaint is the screen is too big for my liking - but feck me the battery lasts long... I managed en entire day of almost constant use. That's bloody amazing for a laptop.
I didn't like some of the actors, notably Cisco - the way he spoke just pissed me off.
Same goes for the one with the wierd nose, she was shite.
I think the entire show would have been better if they just killed that planet of moaners with the noses.
Basically the entire show was shite - although I did watch all the seasons...
Loved the Ferengi and Odo all the same.
Bollox, I'm a Linux only user for the past 10+ years but this Christmas I bought a Dell XPS10 - my first windows since NT4.
I'm quite impressed with WinRT, the responsiveness is excellent, switching apps - and I launched a ton of them - was very fast. The only thing that annoyed me was the network sharing. Yes I could manually plug into to a samba share via //servername/sharename but it didn't integrate as well as expected. It wants to use something called a homegroup. I didn't bother setting it up as I couldn't be arsed.
LXDE here on fedora 17, didn't actually know that gnome2 was available in fedora, cheers for that.
I probably read it wrong and it isn't. Here's hoping all the same!
I left gnome when gnome3 came out, coz it's shite.
On the plus side, my 4GB laptop has 3.odd GiB available all the time, not that it was bloaty before though.
I couldn't agree more. My sister uploaded pics and a video of my baby pushing her new toy pram around the kitchen and I made her remove them. Now I'm not even on farcebook for this very reason - but how to police such things...???
You need an account to know about it, I only found out as the wife is on farcebook, but I don't let her upload pics of the kids, and the kids themselves are banned from the site.
Facebook/instagram, you're a shower of bastards.
Dear Jesus,
thank you for putting this bastard behind bars to get rogered for ten years. His crime was well worse than rape which you get less time for, because me putting naked pics of myself on the internets should be a safe thing to do, even though it is really childish and stupid.
Please could you fix it for me to have him killed as well, that would be great, but not until he has done at least 9 years the bastard.
Thanks in advance,
A. Celebritard.
In fact, I don't even own a mobile telephone. But I have replaced an absolute shed load of them for my wife and kids. An awful lot of these smartphones seem to be quite flimsy, drop them and the screen cracks, battery life is shite etc etc.
i base this entirely on observations and having to fork out the cash for poxy new phones all the time.
My daughter has a crack across the screen of her brand new galaxy S advanced. Luckily I have it insured, but she wants to wait until she "really" breaks it before putting the claim in.
When the wife broke her 5th telephone, I sellotaped up her old broken nokia e71 and that's that.
She is "very" "happy" now, embarrassed to bejaesus mind, but meh.
The one thing that the jesus phone has going for it is that it seems to be more knock resistant.
I'm still not buying her a new one mind.
> on the MD player: the Sony rep removed the disc and reinserted it without a break in the music.
Just tested that, doesn't work mate, it just plays from the start again, which would be expected I'd day.
Maybe you mean when you press pause? Coz that definitely works.
My memory of TW was the jamming, but I also seem to remember an ad on the telly with the sex pistols driving over a CD. Or did I dream that? I could google it but cannot be arsed.
I've found the kriega ranga to be actually waterproof, as have done long journeys with their tail units (I have a US-20 plus the side attachy bits whatever the model is) in torrential downpours - you know the type that gets your goretex kit thouroughly soked, yet opening the bags I find 100% dry clothes and laptop.
My mate has their backpack jobby and his kit was also dry. Would any of the listed bags be trustworthy in a similar downpour? i.e.: is water resistant the same as actually rain proof?
My 62 year old mother has/is on the lookout for very, very old style Nokia phones as they are the only ones she is comfortable with - her current one is held together with gaffer tape, and the calls drop often, but she still uses it.
Same goes for my granny, I took her shopping for a new phone a few months back, and it was some struggle I'll tell you.
More of this ageism stuff please!
If they had of followed very basic project management processes, they would have had an immediate fallback. This is very basic stuff, normally I wouldn't care but all my banking is with natwest, as is the wife's, which mean she didn't get paid, and neither did I. Let's see if they take my mortgage out tomorrow, as its with them as well, as is my credit card.
I'm with ulsterbank (natwest/RBS) and my wife's pay has not arrived at all.
My pay is supposed to arrive on the 28th but I'm not convinced it will, as none of te other transactions are working. I have four accounts with ulsterbank and none of them seem to be working as before this fiasco.
I bet the feckers charge me for late fees on my ulsterbank credit card, let them try.... I've never failed to pay it in full before!
Not for me, on two different machine flash works fine and dandy - aside from the fact that is is still shit and uses up to o much CPU, but it is stable - no frame losses at all watching motogp.com in HD yesterday.
But on my wn7 machine, I get wierd green bars on the top of the screen... no idea why but this is a new thing for sure, as it worked fine before - shit but still stable.
Rubbish mate. I'm 41 and my arse is the same as when I was 20 - just fatter obviously.
I sit in all sorts of chairs while at work. It is your posture that counts, not the chair.
Yes its nice to have a megachair, but it won't help your aching back if you don't sit correctly.
I'd have thought most people play games on consoles and use PC's for productivity.
I find it quite surprising that anyone would bother with PC games.
And no, I don't read the reg or any other site on my PS3.
So what's wrong with advertising/reviewing console games on El-Reg? I welcome it.
no script and ghostery in your browser, and always run in a private browsing session. Then run in normal mode and search for something you'd never normally search for. This severely annoys ad bots, but its rather funny seeing the adds that target you afterwards.
Root your droid and use addblock. problem solved. You will also wish to disallow all tracking in your settings. Lets face it, you usually know where you are and where you are going, and you don't really want to be checking into places either with farcebook.
While your on it, install thunderbird for access to your gmail.
lastly, stop surfing for porn.
There's no way anyone will do any real work on an ipad. A quick email maybe, but nothing more.
I will never replace my laptop with an ipad. They are nothing more than a gimmick.
My desktop no longer gets powered on mind, but only because my lappy docks into a proper 24inch screen - if I'm doing some coding or other real work.
The lappy has a proper sized screen - 12inch as that makes it actually portable...
Why on earth would I need an ipad when a proper sized lappy does the same job, only better?
p.s.: I don't consider office mission critical since the advent of openoffice/libreoffice and variants.
