SCOTUS judges 'doxxed' after overturning Roe v Wade

Khaptain Silver badge

Re: The left no longer understand what democracy means.

Why do keep droning on about women having their rights stripped, this is simply false..

The decision makers have changed that is all....

It's no longer SCOTUS, it's your local state.... Which means that "you" can vote to make the changes... Nothing is more democratic than that, the vote remains with "you".... What don't you understand about that, it really is very very simple.

DOXXING the Scotus memebers is tantamount to anarchy... It will achieve nothing but negative results.

Khaptain Silver badge

Re: The left no longer understand what democracy means.

The supreme court removed the law at federal level and put it back to state level.

That's a far more democratic movement because the citizens of the state do get to vote for who makes the decisions state wide.

The overturning of this law does not stop anyone doing what they want. They may have to move state but that's all .. that's like living in a dry state and complaining that there are no liquor stores..

Any it appears that judging by the downvotes that people here are ok with Mob Rule, good luck with that when you are suddenly on the wrong end of the stick....

Khaptain Silver badge

The left no longer understand what democracy means.

So now if someone does something that the leftists no longer agree with they are then DOXxed with the future intention that someone will come along and possibly harm or kill the offending party..

Is this what is now known as democracy in the US?

Twitter sues Musk: He can't just 'change his mind, trash the company, walk away'

Khaptain Silver badge

Why aren't Twitter happy

In the beginning Twitter was against the idea of Musk buying them out , and now they are angry that he won't.

For a company that believes in socialism and liberalism etc why have they suddenly become Capitalist and Conservatist, is it the call of the giant GreenBack that is changing their minds?

They really are a very strange company...

Rufus and ExplorerPatcher: Tools to remove Windows 11 TPM pain and more

Re: I wish it was retroactive.

I did it using this way by doing the two regedit's that Rufus does for you....

This link gives you both methods, I have tried both and can conform that they both work, Rufus obviously with a fresh install and also the Upgrade from W10..

https://www.alphr.com/bypass-windows-11-requirements/

There are quite a few sites listing the same method..

However even after 6 months I am still trying to find the advantages of W11.. It's ok but dfinately nothing world changing.. It's not bad though and I find it very stable..

Re: Hoping they can publish a fix soon.

The open source community is faltering because of the behavior you'd expect from unsocialized "men"...

If it's Open Source then you are free to do your own thing, why would you remain in such an environment if such is the case.. Do your own fork and develop a nice group of people, why is that a problem for you..

Don't look for a problem, become the solution.

Stress and idiotic questions/requests

I wonder if the study will also take into considersation the extreme levels of stress, lack of sleep, endless 24h thought processes and problem resolving mind games that a developer has to endure in order to perform his craft only to be confronted by a question from someone that can see no futher than their own belly button..

" Children killed because they got hold of parent's gun (which was not securely stored);"

Ok then there are a hundred other items that we should remove from houses thenm, Bleach, Gasoline , Medication etc etc .. Again the gun is not the cause it merly the catalyst. Why were the guns not locked up correctly.. It's a case of stupid people not dangerous items0

"Suicides"

Again , remove the gun and they will use Drugs, Alcohol, Pieces of rope. Gun's don't make suicide easier, it's just a tool as that moment.. All suicides are not done by shooting oneself.

"Making a start on gun control to address these areas would save many lives"

Gun Control already exists as it does in other countries where there are not the same problems.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_firearm-related_death_rate

Have a look at the deaths related to firearms and firearms per capita... Why does Finland, Germany, Norway, Switzerkand, Kuwait etc not have a huge amounts of firearms related deaths yet they still have a high number of guns per capita...

It's a culture problem no matter how you try and wind round it.

Khaptain Silver badge

Every time there is mention of a ban the sales of guns sky rockets......

Ok lets say that you make a ban on weapons, how do you intend to enforce a ban on more than 300 Million arms... Yes, there are more than 300 millions arms in the States, most of them legal and most have never seen combat/fight/shootouts etc..

The guns are not the problem, the problem is the culture, and/or serious mental health problems, due to a multitude of reasons. Start by tackling the culture, and start addressing the mental problems then we might start to see a difference.

Re: Is it true that it uses proprietary bits?

I don't have this exact model but I know that mine defiantly has proprietary connecters between the PSU and the Motherboard..

When my PSU fried it suddenly became a whole lot of extra pain to find the "adapter" and then have to perform some electrical shenanigans to correctly set things up.. You have to use a paperclips between two pin in order to allow for a boot.. It's easy to do but it feels like you lose any advantages that Lenovo has to offer( if there ever were any)

@DioDesign

Thanks again for replying but in 14 years I have never seen so many comments being moderated. On the extremely rare occasion in the the past I may have waited, at most , 30 minutes. In the last 2 months or so , it has now become the majority of my posts and some of them take 2 days before being published.

What is the explanation for the increase in both the quantity of posts being put under verification and the increase in waiting times.

After many years it is very obvious to me that something has changed in the getting process.

Khaptain Silver badge

Re: That would be a huge change

I've been on El Reg for nigh on 14 years and this is new to me..

As far as being an asshole is concerned, I disagree, my opinion might not conform to current ideologies but that certainly does not make me an asshole.. Quite the contrary, my disagreement, or opposite point of view is what is required in order for any "discussion" to take place..

If someone does not agree they are welcome to present their side, the ad homonyms are not necessary. I might not be correct 100% of the time but why should that prevent me putting forward my point of view.. It is quite a normal process during ones education throughout life....

Khaptain Silver badge

Re: That would be a huge change

It's already happening on El Reg

It appears as though if your post doesn't adhere to the San Francisco's current ideolology then you don't get to reply.

I currently have several posts awaiting moderation and yet there is nothing contreversial within them. It's just that it appears as though I have been flagged... So the verification process has begun here too...

So much for for El Reg being a place for actual conversation.

It's for that reason that many of todays movements don't actually change anything or do anything positive, because they are not changing the cultural problem that are the fundamental root causes..

Khaptain Silver badge

Biased is a loaded word

For something to be truly unbiased it would have to be tasteless, formless, colourless, soul-less and lacking all intelligence and completely void of any interaction with the real world..

If there were no biases in the world we would have not art, music, culture, language or haute cuisine... We would simply by returned to an amoeba state.

Why would someone desire to achieve that state ?

Bias is what makes people different, it's what keeps things interesting, it's creative and delightful, it's thought provoking.

It's also ironic that those the push for "bias free" are those that require it the most... Hollywood, the media , and others for which I will not use the word as the word is negative...

Re: Orwellian nightmare

I laughed at the remark on the Miriam Webster site that states...

"The words niggard and niggardly are etymologically unrelated to the highly offensive and inflammatory racial slur euphemistically referred to as the N-word, despite the words' visual and auditory resemblance to it. Because of that resemblance, however, both niggard and niggardly are often taken to be offensive."

Do rhyming words also count as being potentially offensive. What about words that have the same amount of letters ? Is there actually any word that is not offensive to someone or other ?

Khaptain Silver badge

Re: Orwellian nightmare

So who gets to decide what's acceptable or not, and how often do the rules get updated, daily, weekly, monthly etc ..

How can you consider that ALL homosexuals accept the usage of the word homosexual, what do you do about those that don't accept that word... Maybe some don't even want any word used to describe them as that in itself could be considered exclusive..

There is no end to that method of thinking....It a vicious circle with no winners.... A contemporary exemple

would be how to define people with non white skin.. Is it ok to say Black , Brown, Africa, Midle Eastern, People of Colour or BAME, which is acceptable and which is not ?

I have many coloured and or gay friends/colleagues that admit that they have become disturbed by all these word games. Especially when the games are being played by people that are not concerned by it at all....
