I read a short book about, what was at the time, one of Britains largest LSD factories which was located somewhere in the middle of nowhere in Wales.. I do not know if you know it but the bust itself was called Operation Julie, it's worth a quick read if you can get your hands on a copy...

Factory as in "operation" not as in building, as it was located in a small welsh cottage. LSD does not require a very large establishment to create huge quantities.. I think that a one litre bottle in the drinking water system is easilly enough to knock out the population of London, possibly more, for a couple of hours.

I gave the article a quick read and from what I undertood the problem that worries them most is that the data is encrypted/decrypted, ie controlled, by a third party, in this case RIM. The servers/switches/routers are located in other countres and they are unsure about what actually happens behind the scenes.

The fact that they, the French companies, do not have control of the entire End to End process puts doubts into their heads about the security, which is completely understandable.

They have not actually demonstrated any problems or possible hacks, they simply do not have 100% faith and therefore prefer not to use BBs. As mentioned in the article they have their own methods of which they control one end to the other.

The same is true of any security process which uses a third party. If you do not control the entire process you can never garauntee the security.

After having a quick shufti through their other stuff, it is actually marketing. This is actually what these guys do, they make small films, and from the looks of some of them "extreme" is actually the leitmotif... Not porn extreme, just OTT extreme.

Some of them are quite well done.. especially the DroneBone one, there is a bit of something for everyone if you look closely.

The last time I watched Dr Who it was in the time of Tom Baker and K9, I have never seen a single episode since.

Also gave up TV in the last century, the advertising annoyed me and the news made me depressed. I presume that it has never changed.

Our home is actually in the country but both myself and my wife have an appartment in town(s), we work in different cities. The internet/telephone is our lifeline during the week. My wife has lots of vacation so she is at home for half of the time.......

And as much as I love being at home, I really, really wouldn't like to lose my connection. Think about it, no internet or phone during the weekends or holidays.....it's not as easy as it sounds.

The ISPs love us as we have to pay 3 Internet connection bills + 2 mobile phone bills, and no we are not millionaires or high flyers but life is not easy without a connection... We have the cheapest subscriptions to all and we do not have television.

It probably means that it is an POP3/IMAP crossover installation rather than a full blown POP3 or IMAP server. Most of the ISPs seem to provide these solution for their clients.

As I mentioned it could also be an inside job if there is inside information. Malware is easier to plant when you are already in the building and spoofing IPs is childs play for the Elite Govt Hackers ( The EGT are a theoretical group of hackers as no western Govt would ever admit to their existance).

Yes possibly but the APT1(the Chinese), the Iranian Revolutionary Guard ( who control the largest comms network) and that German Hacking team ( they might have been white hats rather than black though) do exist and are very real.

If either of you went to a country where there was a non existant expat community how would you go about dealing with the aforementioned tasks ? I am pretty much convinced that you would both be perfectly capable of dealing with all the tasks without any major problem.

Therefore, why not just begin on that path. Personally I enjoy the challenge of making it on my own although I realise that this is not the same for all.

If the world was handed to me on a plate, eating would become a chore.

I find it interesting that you consider music as a fashion, personally I do not. I would keep music where it a has always been, as an art. And just like art, music changes, although it does not disappear.

I blame the music industry for the demise of the music industry not for the demise of music, they are very different things.

The music industry has made everything industrial. We talk about the potential benefits, ie the profit, that can be made by a musician before we talk about their talent. A musicians looks are more important than their vocal chords... The industry has only one objective, make money for itself....

Musicians, and I don't mean the Kylie minogues of this world, are akin to poets, they have something to say, they have a desire to communicate, a feeling, an emotion , a particular moment, but unfortunately these are not the elements that are being pushed by the industry....

Industry has successfully pushed in everyone's faces, what it wants you to listen too... They want to be the ones supplying the choice of goods just like the supermarkets. In the beginning the supermarkets stocked everyones products but more and more all we see now are the supermarkets own "branded" stuff....

The music will continue to live on, and all the good music will remain outside of the mainstream because industry does not see the "benefit" in them...

I have always been under the impression that the death of all large industries, and not just the music industry, is due to implosion rather than explosion. Here we are witnessing a new implosion, it is simply impossible to retain the huge profits for any length of time.

PS : The number of haircuts and jeans being bought has probably remained the same or is even slightly higher than before.....
