Re: ...shout and throw big heavy things at the managers...
If you really want to get their attention, then tell them (the manglers) that they will be the Red Shirts in the event the robots go berserk.

You fail to see the reason from the manglement perspective.
Anything that can cut costs is a GOOD THING, which leads to higher executive bonuses. Executives don't have to worry about security, that is your job!!!
Do it with your hands tied behind your back courtesy of manglement, who would quickly throw you under the bus when the shit hits the fan!!!!
Then, what is?? It sounds like typical shitty customer service - period.
Back in February, my ISP tried to sneak through a rate increase through two separate methods.
One was a direct increase, one that you could not do much about, except cancel their service.
The other was through a modem rental fee that was applied to any ISP supplied modems. Quick calculations showed that I could get a better modem for about what a year's worth of rental costs would be. So, I returned the dammed thing, on February 27.
Now, do you think that my going in to their office and returning the modem would get it removed from my account, and not incur a new modem rental fee, then I have some Florida swampland I could sell you. Because IT DID NOT!!!!!
The March bill came in with the fee for a modem that was returned before the beginning of the month; which resulted in my having to take the time to call up those incompetent bastards and complain. Their customer disservice representative did remove the charge, but he failed to remove the code indicating that I had one of their modems from my account.
I found that out this month when April's bill arrived, the same shit AGAIN!!!!! Again, I had to call and complain. This is behavior that typifies large companies - lazy, incompetent customer disservice departments.
<------------ So, Brighthouse, that one's for you.
A Sprint Nextel spokesperson told us that the telco "follows industry standard best practices" to protect its customers.
Which one should read as:
A Sprint Nextel spokesperson told us that the telco "follows industry standard best practices" to protect puts profits ahead of its customers.

I had a relative call me up after his WindblowZE 7 box crapped out after installing this botched update.
He was so unhappy when I informed him that like the maid, I don't do Windows anymore, since I switched to Linux in 2008.
He was so desperate!!!!
Icon says it all!!!!
I, for one, do not!!!
I am well aware that the music industry, like Hollywood will never let any opportunity to ram it up the ass of a musician or actor pass by, if it presents itself.
The music industry took a page out of Hollywood's Creative Accounting playbook, and figured out so many ways past Sunday to cheat musicians and artists. It is one reason why I have no sympathy for member companies of the MAFIAA (Music And Film Industy Associations of America). Fuck them!
Unless you are a "household name" artist, whose popularity allows you the ability to dictate your own terms; you are fucked. The record companies will make damn sure that any potential royalties you might be entitled to are consumed by bogus nickel and dime expenses. You may have to have an army of CPAs to keep the labels honest. When you sign with a label, you have given them first dibs at your first born, your left nut and your spouse (or girl/boyfriend), and essentially, you are a slave (to the record company) with little hope of gaining your freedom. So, pirates out there, if you really want to stick it to those bastards, then support those artists that release their music directly to the public, fuck the labels. Supporting an artist directly takes the labels out of the revenue stream, and those greedy motherfuckers don't want their gravy train hijacked.
In one Florida county, the clerks' office has notified the local municipalities that they should stop issuing red light camera tickets because of an inequity in the way state law is written. It seems that the world has transitioned from an economy where items of value are produced, to one of a "got you by the balls" mentality as a business model. Patent trolls are a prime example.
I feel that the first step in stopping trolls is to institute (at least in the US) a losing plaintiff pays policy. Currently, Rackspace had to spend plenty of $$$ to defend itself from Uniloc's accusations, and Uniloc LOST. Other than its attorney's fees (which may have been on contingency), Uniloc essentially gambled on Rackspace's folding. There was little downside for Uniloc.
NOW, would Uniloc have been so assertive in its """claims""" 1 if it would have been on the hook for Rackspace's legal costs in the event Rackspace won????? Now, that is a good question, isn't it??? It is unfortunate that Rackspace can not get a judgment against Uniloc for its legal fees, and bankrupt those dammed assholes!!!!
AFAIAC it should be global thermonuclear war on patent trolls, with no mercy shown to losing trolls.
.
1 When I put a word or phrase in triple quotes, it is my way of expressing facetious surprise at whatever is triple quoted.

Uniloc's """claims"""
<sarcasm> yeah right!!!!! </sarcasm>
Strike out the double taxation rules. All revenue raised in the country that the end customer lives in is taxed at the prevailing rate in that country. Multinationals are then playing by the same rules as corporations that do business solely in one jurisdiction.
Which is well and good, but, if you notice very carefully, many of these avoidance schemes involve tax deductible business expenses. And, if you think corporates are going to stand for basing tax on gross revenues as opposed to net profits; you are in for a serious shock. The wailing and moaning will be heard world wide. The trick for tax agencies world wide is to determine how to fairly assess legitimate business expenses, and tax those claimed business 'expenses' that simply serve to move profits out of a high tax percentage country into a tax haven.
Exactly!!!
More so, you have some control over the quality of the ripped file.
If your taste is FLACs as opposed to MP3s; ripping your own from a CD is one way to insure a better quality rip.
NOW you know why I never waste my money on digital downloads; give me the physical medium anyday!!!!
And I propose as a part of its functionality, the ability to monitor specific (executive) computers for unapproved access to pr0n sites; if such access is detected, it then sends those machines into a kernel panic.
Also, as part of its functionality, it will monitor those computers who are tasked with monitoring your network for unauthorized pr0n access and inform you if you have been fingered.
As part of its config file, the key value pair SHOW_NAUGHTY_BITS=TRUE causes the integral naughtiness filter to be bypassed, allowing you unfettered pr0n access.
That is what WROK PALCE does to prevent damagement from viewing pr0n sites.
Boy, did some male execs scream when the female CEO got an email listing their attempt in real time to access a prohibited site. She often paid a visit to their office - unannounced!!!!
IT got called some really nasty names; but, what the hell, we were only following ORDERS!!!!!
Sony, on the other hand, will not see a single dollar from me ever after that rootkit fiasco. That is how you make Trevor hate you. That right there.
You can add me to the club of people who have a severe disdain for anything SONY for exactly the same reason (a rootkit infection that killed a system).
Not in the bulb, but in the fixture itself!!!!!
This would solve one of the problems that plague older homes - getting cables down inside walls.
When I was a kid (the 1960's), my dad worked for a company that made precision motors, they used a 24 volt momentary closure relay (made by GE) to turn on/off their shop floor lighting. Since the factory was in Chicago, a city where the electrical codes were quite strict, being able to run the control circuits using what amounted to doorbell wire (24 volts at 100 ma) eliminated many lengthy metal conduit runs. The neat part was this combination switch that had the on/off buttons and a 12 position rotary switch that allowed selection of any one of the 12 connected relay loads from a single point. Also, since these on/off switches were wired in parallel to each other, complicated and expensive 3-way and 4-way mains wiring was eliminated.
So, a fixture (or load) mounted Zigbee module may serve as the foundation for quite flexible load control.
As someone who worked for a company that made a decent part of its sales from (fl)e(a)Bay, having them pull a listing, and more importantly, your account without any real means of redress; just shows how dangerous it is to trust them.
They will fuck you over if the opportunity presents itself. Consider yourselves warned.
I live within 75 miles of a nuke plant that, because management damagement wanting to save some money, (to increase their year end bonuses) decided to perform a "DIY" nuke plant repair. (see http://www.tampabay.com/news/business/energy/consumer-advocates-want-investigation-into-crystal-river-nuclear-plant-deal/1276531 ) Seventh paragraph says it all.
And I have no plans to move, either.
