I expect a pre-built off the shelf PC to be equipped with the cheapest components possible that will survive a heavy use situation, in order to keep prices competitive. Who makes the PSU?.
I been building PC's for 20+ years, when I skimped on cost, I regretted it... I bought a Jetway mobo once. :-(
All I can say is wait and see, until PC World get a shit load of returns this is a non story.

Just like every other Android App that requests access to contacts, sms, wifi, radio, sdcard contents etc. etc.
If a malicious app can jump air gapped systems, the system is not air gapped. Wifi, Blutooth indeed any connectivity to a device that accesses the Internet access does not constitute an air gapped system. Or does the term air gapped simply mean a box without a cat5 cable attached?

Am I all alone in believing that a fast, responsive and reliable website is only realisable when all dependencies are on the same server/cluster? (OK, social media/YouTube etc aside).
How can anyone using a third party service guarantee any kind of up time/latency/page loading times etc. to a client?
Responding "My provider said it would,work/would be quick.", when a client asks "Why is this not working properly?" is laughable.
leaving broke Genesis, They survived the departure of Peter Gabriel. But when Hackett left, Genesis became more pop orientated. Even so "Home by the sea", "Duchess" and "Your own special way" remain my favourite post Hackett tracks and stand by themselves.
I have much respect for Phil Collins' drumming skills. And I reckon anyone who has tried to play any instrument and who has also listened to Genesis from the early days would agree.
I look forward to hearing what he comes out with, he has the recognition to pull some great musicians into this project. I just hope he remembers his roots and does not make pop songs.
As someone else mentioned... He comes from a time when musicians could play an instrument and the stage performance of a live act was almost indistinguishable from the studio recording.

It's not like there are thousands or indeed millions of every so slightly different computers to update. Any of which, may have components from manufacturers that don't entirely follow industry standards.
No, this is a console with rigid control over the BOM and thus the hardware inside each revision of the device. So, it should be a completely sucessful and flawless update.

I am an old man hoping MS die before I do.... I supported Windows from 3.1 to XP. Hence the bitter taste and anger that still lingers, I have a long memory. I still use Win7 on one machine and I am very happy with it. Its good for games and the one graphics package I use that will not run under Wine.

It's not instant.... The photons travel at light speed. And as light speed is finite, it leads to the wonderful world of spacetime. The more pretty GUI's and layers of abstraction from what is really going on with the underlying OS means that one can employ those who have been taught how to pass an exam to administer ones infrastructure for a nominal fee. Experience is not cheap and one has to cut costs.
This does present a much broader attack surface to those that wish to own your ass though. And when your ass is owned, those cheap administrators one has hired prove to be no use at all.

They never have been, the planet has functioned perfectly for around 4.5 billion years. The planet did shoot itself in the foot though... It allowed humans to evolve.
Defending one company's bad practice by stating others do the same is a hollow argument.
I use a mobile running Cyanogen, privacy guard active. It never connects to Google unless I allow it to. Most of Google servers and services are in the hosts file on the phone, same with MS servers and services. Apple has absolutely nothing I want so I don't go anywhere near them.
