Burn them all to death

by self regualate, they mean "Find new ways to do the same thing, makeing it sound better"

All we need is a ground war in Asia to cull our populations to below the level that our society produces parasites like these.

They even prey on each other, how many organsisations all doing the same thing?

Na, hand to hand combat with physical weapons in some 3rd world country will do the trick

The Human Race needs to clean up its act and either kill them all or find a way to target their excess population to our advantage.

Maybe sacrifise them all to all the Gods we can think of? One of them may be real.

@Dapprman and John Scott and Fraser

Yeah the Kit you see in the offices, most of the servers etc are new and spanky.

But the databases and the systems in use on them are the same ones that have been there for 15-20 years. Just upgraded and modified along the way.

Try any form of data migration and scratch the surface and find the rotten core of bolt on quick fixes, single points of failiure and the old fav of mine. Yeah the guy that knows that system is retiring in 3 weeks.

Bothered?

Not me, so we return to a pastoral existance and never have to wonder why I am paying the BBC to produce "reality programs" with my licence fee.

Anyway, I'm ready for it, i've tought myself to be able to whittle little wooden farmyard animals to sell to travelers on their way to the next village.

The firm seeks an undisclosed amount of damages.

Well seeing as how they lost nothing, having never had any intention of producing anything with their "IP", they can go fuck themselves.

Good investment in our countrys IT industry tbh

If we pay the banks tax money to fuck up, and then let the bastards continue to forclose on people and STILL get fuck off massive bonuses, why cant we thrown some small change at the IT industry?

See this as an investment, proping up one of our only real industrys left

Apologies after teacher's 'Linux holding back kids' claim

Gordon Pryra
Gates Halo

She has a point

She may not know what she is talking about, but she makes a good point.

Giving kiddies a non-standard OS is not going to help them. Who gives a monkeys if Linix is any good? Its not what they will see in the real world.

Because linix shoots itself in the foot with the morons who think it should be as user unfriendly as possible. Like the tosser above who posted "it makes you acutally have to think while you install it". And that is a good thing? Why?

Wasting a childs formative years and retricted tuition time on linix is indeed failing the child, when they could be learning a far easier system that WILL help them when trying to get a job

Anyway

Linix is shit

Academics warn of EU 'three strikes' back door plan

Since when did the music and entertainment industry

Ever do anything for the British People that gave them the right to force laws on us?

if they werent the parasitic bottom feeders they are, then maybe we should police the people copying files. Using such things as finding out who actually did it, rather then the best guess they currently use.

But to be honest, these guys do nothign apart from increase the cost of goods due to their adding advertising costs to them. They clog up the day to day running of the internet and email systems with spamm and dubious low level packet inspection.

For what? The same old shit rehashed and rebranded? Crap non-entitys plasterd on our screens and all over the papers?

We need a ground war in asia to weed out the surpless people, then we can move on from this crap over their dead rotting bodies.

A private organisation should not be able to dictate the law to the British People, they should not be able to remove the burden of proof from any case against anyone.

Any ISP giving someone name and address to one of the companies profiteering from these cases should loose their license as an ISP, and go to jail, and get a good honest kicking

Be in work 15 minutes before your supposed to be.

Walking in at 9am when you start at 9am is lame anyway.

And what it he talking about lost time at the end of the day? Does he sit and watch the PC to make sure its logs out?

If the company knew that part of the time they were paying him for was to "watch the computer shut down" then the would get rid of him fast.

Press shut down, go home. Thats not hard.

Anyway VISTA logs in faster than XP on my machine, its still shit, but thats a different story.

The system was played with by someone who then gave it to the police saying "look what i've found on here"

The person giving it to the police was also the guy who was pissed off at the original owner for not paying his rent.

I wonder how this "Evidence" would stand up to any decent lawer? Legally obtained evidence or not, its still been tampered by a non-neutral party with a grudge to grind.

The police would do well to search HIS systems, 10 quid says hes hashed things up (hahaha)

and left soem of those files on his own computer when he copied them over

Everyone complaining that "they will need to make their profits elsewhere"

I think the whole point is that they are over charging EVERYWHERE.

So no, they WONT have to make their profits on normal users, because Redding wont let them.

And to start to talk about "Free Phones" or "Free Minutes" is just a joke.

Why should these companys routinly lie and over charge (sic steal) from us?

Because there is little compertition, so we NEED people like Redding who can slap the bastards back into line.

Reding tells Euro MPs to back telecoms reforms

Gordon Pryra

@amanfrommars

That is about the worst she could have said.

If she came straight out and said "Your changing this law so that you can spy on people easier" she would be out of work tomorrow.

By drawing attention to it, she allows the media to do with it as they will. In the case of El Reg, work out what she meant, in the case of "The Sun" (UK newspaper) A pair of tits on page 3.

I think Reding is doing a dammed good job so far, and is actually taking on real issues.

The average MP wont do aything if there is any risk to it at all. Reding seems to be doing the opposite.

Kindle fails to set light to unsold e-book pile

Gordon Pryra
Thumb Down

A book is more than just the words

Even though the e-book "thingys" read ok, they don't give you that feeling of imersion you get when reading a good book. Books give you the "Werthers Original" feeling, they smell good and they are good in a fight (at least hardbacked ones are anyway)

I go through paperbacks by the hundreds on the way to and from work, when I find a good one, I stop reading it and save it till I can enjoy it. It's an almost religious feeling. You can't fall asleep to a good e-book, not when its going to make a big noise as it smashes to bits on the floor.

The other MASSIVE advantage, is that at the end of the book, you still have the book, to go with your other books.

You don't get any of this with the e-books. Just the cold clinical type#

I'm sure I'm not alone in this.

IT pay jumps as skills gap widens

Gordon Pryra
IT Angle

Aside from my silly comment

I still can't understand some of the job specs agency’s routinely send out. They ask for 3 pages worth of skills and experience and offer the minimum wage in return.

Some of the bigger name companies are just as bad. Rackspace with their fanatical interviews is a good example of a big company taking the piss and scaring people off.

Why jump through hoops to work for a full time company, when you can experience exactly the same level of job security, yet earn 5 times more and escape from all the politics and other rubbish that comes with working for them by being a contractor?

Companies may be complaining that there is no one to do the basic jobs. That is their own fault.

Why work for shit, get treated like shit and know that you will get sacked/replaced/outsourced at the drop of a hat?

If I was joining the job market now, then I wouldn’t go near IT or any of its bastard little red-headed cousins.......

How do you proove reckless?

More shit by a different party, meaningless rubbish

"knowingly or recklessly"

Why would someone "knowingly" cause the loss of data?

Thats already illegal, its called "theft"

"Recklessly?" Loosing something isn't reckless. Its only human to "loose" things. Whats "reckless" is having an infrastucture that allows that data to pass offsite.

Which gets us directly to who should take the blame... And we know that those people are above the law.

So, again, this is just meaningless words. The people asking for the bill would not be beholden to it if they ever got in charge. And the people responsible for the current fuck ups would put you in jail before they ever faced a judge

NASA to brief on manned spaceship 'concerns'

The private Falcon programme run by Elon Musk could offer alternative astronaut lift;

The space program being put into place by my Grandad could also offer the same lift capabilities as the Falcon programme.

Unfortunatly, my Grandad has the same issues of not actually being able to get anywhere near space as the Falcon program....
