It never ceases to amaze me how so many companies get obsessed over the price of tea bags and will seemingly do anything to minimise what is probably one of the smallest incidental costs of running a business.

I worked for an outfit which got uppity about line managers claiming for takeaways for their staff who worked into the evening. That had a really negative effect given no one was paid overtime and it was such a small price to pay. The practice continued but the damage had already been done and a massive amount of goodwill was lost.

Probably the worst cases are where a company will try and save pennies yet spunk thousands up the wall on something no one really cares about, while even antagonising people, like replacing comfortable and well-loved chairs with crap ones to match a new corporate colour scheme.

It seems a little unfair to blame MPs when May and her devious government have not allowed parliament much say at all on how brexit will be. She keeps running the clock down and keeping them at bay from having any say or influence at all.

Latest reports are that she will be delaying the next vote on the deal no one wants until the end of February. Another ploy to ensure MPs have little choice but to accept the deal she wants or face a no deal brexit.

As for what this supposed compromise MPs should have been able to come up with, which would satisfy the two polarised sides of the issue, would be; I have no idea. It seems to be another imaginary magical solution carved out of unicorn shit and wrapped in rainbows.

Mine's the one with the "we're fucked" note in the pocket.

I was once greeted with the oddest of looks in my local supermarket freezer aisle when I innocently asked an assistant if they stocked cod pieces.

However I don't think any future government, in my lifetime, would never, ever dare to put forward the idea of a referendum, ever again.

Parliament did try to ensure damage was as limited as it could be by making it an advisory vote. They didn't "hand the decision to the people to make" as the many liars pursuing leaving falsely claim. Unfortunately the two main parties in parliament were happy to go along with that lie to further their own desires, and we have ended up with exactly what needed to be avoided.

The worst time to have a referendum is when people are evenly split, and especially on something which both halves the country see as an existential threat to their own futures.

It's the biggest fuck-up I can remember in my life time.

A fundamental part of legal certainty is that you should be able to know in advance what rights you have.

What "legal certainty"? Laws and rules change all the time, as they should. Many prohibit things which used to be considered acceptable, and there's nothing wrong with that.

The notion that because something was legal or allowed it must always remain as such is utterly ridiculous.

But I do keep hearing how our Members of Parliament use it to run their affairs, conduct their scheming and plotting, so I'm going to be delighted if they find to their costs that it has back doors and leaks like a sieve on command.

Over at Companies House there are filings dated 8th November 2018 appointing Andrews and Smith as Directors on the 2nd November, and filings dated 12th November terminating the appointment of Andrew and Smith as Directors on the 2nd of November.

Then this is not for you. However not everyone wants to start in Linux and end in Linux nor has the luxury of being able to do so.

I can understand how some Penguinistas aren't happy about Windows still keeping its foot in the door but that's the reality of how things are. I primarily develop for Windows as that's the bigger market for what my company produces but we also support Linux and WSL has been a real boon in assisting with that. And Multipass may help some more.

I acquired one of those W10 32GB Micro-PCs very cheaply and thought it would be good enough for some lightweight stuff but it only had a GB and a bit to spare with all the pre-loaded crap. While I was trying to figure out what to delete it decided an OS update was good idea. That completely borked it.

For Windows use I am never going to use anything unless it has a hard drive.

Barnier needs to be reminded that he is just a civil servant not a head of state nor working for one. His remit should be merely to minimise the impact on the EU not impose 'penalties' on the UK.

It's only brexiteers who believe Barnier is anything other than a civil servant, is acting as a head of state, is personally imposing punishments on the UK.

Brexiteers demand he does something, and when he says he can't, he is merely a civil servant, is only representing the EU, that's apparently punishing us.

It is brexiteers who need reminding he's just a civil servant and has no individual power.

I still believe, as posted earlier, that this was an arrest of convenience simply to get the backlog cleared by pretending the threat had been removed.

Oh look; the police now claim to have found a broken drone, so it must have been safe to fly after all. Obviously that crashed rather than being planted. Silly me; imagining all sorts of conspiracy and false flag theories.

The truth is whatever they tell you it is.

I think we are sh#t out of 'good' options.

We were from the moment there was intent to hold the referendum in a nation which was equally split between remaining and leaving. And an entire campaign designed to polarise and harden divisions set our future in stone.

Remainers could probably have compromised on a Norway option, out but still sort of in. As Farage said; would that really be so bad?

But then the leave zealots played the bait and switch card and said that was never on the table, that only the hardest of no deal brexits would do. And then (laughingly now) they called everyone who tried to stop the Maybot pushing her hijacking of brexit through as traitors and enemies of the people.

Whatever happens now half the country will be pissed with it. We're fucked. It's a critical defect and there is no fix.
