Re: The War on Drugs

The CIA was known for the longest time as the Cocaine Import Agency.

As for the tens of thousands affected by drug crime including perpetrators, victims, buyers, sellers I think it is extremely relevant.

But its is nice of you to deflect attention away from the CIA

Re: er...

I think you need to open up a dictionary and see what the definition of terror is:

noun

1.intense, sharp, overmastering fear:

to be frantic with terror.

2.an instance or cause of intense fear or anxiety; quality of causing terror:

to be a terror to evildoers.

3.any period of frightful violence or bloodshed likened to the Reign of Terror in France.

4.violence or threats of violence used for intimidation or coercion; terrorism.

I'm going to make a wild guess and say the people in Las Vegas were terrified.

Re: So much for digital

Correct. Numbers like 12 and 60 were used by street market traders due to their high level of divisibility.

This was especially important when buying selling items that could not be easily divided such as fruit/vegetables which would spoil once cut. A cart of 60 apples could be split into 10 different uniform units.

I wonder if Scott Grissom was invited

I think his father did not want to go ahead with the sham.

http://www.seeker.com/the-apollo-1-conspiracy-theory-1766444880.html

"In 1999. Scott Grissom, Gus' then 48 year old son, came forward saying his father had been murdered.

The younger Grissom had his suspicions in the 1960s but wasn't able to prove foul play until the 1990s when he was granted access to the charred Apollo 1 capsule.

Rooting around the instrumentation, he found a “fabricated metal plate" behind a switch on one of the instrument panels that controlled the source of the capsule's electrical power.

Its placement behind that switch, he said, was clearly an act of sabotage.

It ensured that when any crew member toggled that switch there would be a spark.

That spark would have been enough to start the fire that killed the crew."

Re: The USPTO

It's very simple

- US Patent Office grants obvious/ridiculous patent to a US Company.

- US Company enforces said patent world wide ensuring US interests are protected and non-US company cannot secure it for themselves.

- US Company collects worldwide patent licence fee.

- US Company pays(in theory) tax on profit from patent to US Government.

- US maintains signficiant worldwide IP control and secures profit flow into the US.

So its all about both control and profit.

For those that missed this story

Here is what happened shortly after the fall of the Berlin Wall and the collapse of a perceived foe.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Club_of_Rome

In 1991, the Club published The First Global Revolution.[7] It analyses the problems of humanity, calling these collectively or in essence the 'problematique'. It notes (laments) that, historically, social or political unity has commonly been motivated by enemies in common: "The need for enemies seems to be a common historical factor. Some states have striven to overcome domestic failure and internal contradictions by blaming external enemies. The ploy of finding a scapegoat is as old as mankind itself - when things become too difficult at home, divert attention to adventure abroad. Bring the divided nation together to face an outside enemy, either a real one, or else one invented for the purpose. With the disappearance of the traditional enemy, the temptation is to use religious or ethnic minorities as scapegoats, especially those whose differences from the majority are disturbing."[8] "Every state has been so used to classifying its neighbours as friend or foe, that the sudden absence of traditional adversaries has left governments and public opinion with a great void to fill. New enemies have to be identified, new strategies imagined, and new weapons devised."[8] "In searching for a common enemy against whom we can unite, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine and the like, would fit the bill. In their totality and their interactions these phenomena do constitute a common threat which must be confronted by everyone together. But in designating these dangers as the enemy, we fall into the trap, which we have already warned readers about, namely mistaking symptoms for causes. All these dangers are caused by human intervention in natural processes, and it is only through changed attitudes and behaviour that they can be overcome. The real enemy then is humanity itself."[9]

http://www.drbriffa.com/2013/11/29/president-of-coca-cola-in-europe-misleads-us-over-the-sugar-in-its-drinks/

"UK guidelines recommend that ‘added’ sugars - those used to sweeten food, fizzy drinks, honeys, syrups and fruit juices - shouldn’t make up more than 10 per cent of the total energy we get from food.

This is around 50g of sugar a day, equivalent to 10 cubes of sugar for adults and older children, and nine for five to ten-year-olds.

But just one 500ml bottle of Coke will send you over this limit, with 10.5 cubes.

A 330ml can contains 35g or six teaspoons of sugar

Earlier this year Coca-Cola, the parent company of Sprite, announced that the fizzy lemon and lime flavoured drink was to be scrapped in favour of a lower-calorie version that uses a 'natural' sweetener, Stevia."

JMS confirmed at the time that this happened and that the similarities were in no way co-incidental.

I think the stupidity lies in comparing television output to Education/Transport and Medical cover. Even if you do not make use of a specific road in Wigan chances are you have made use of roads at some point in your life.

Television is at best informative and at worst entertainment.

The BBC's model of funding is an unfair immoral unethical tax in this day and age. It should be no different than paying for any other non-essential item or luxury. i.e. A personal choice.

For the record the rest of the worlds media content generation does not work off this model quite happily.

If the BBC did not pay Ragdoll Productions for its childrens output(Teletubbies etc) they would simply have got their funding elsewhere.

In this day and age the £145 can be better spent.

I find the above to be highly dubious.

So there was no such thing as doctors in the UK pre-BBC or anywhere else in the world where there is no Beeb.

People have always been interested in biology and the effect by the Beeb is negligible.

Not quite

The fractured D-Pad has been a bane for most of those 20 years with no diagonal option.

Executing a diagonal press by trying to press two directional buttons simultaneously has been an exercise in frustration esp with fighing games(Tekken,SF) that use diagonal or Quarter/Half circle rolling movements (Down,Down Foward,Forward etc) to execute combos.

The problem also plagued other games and the thumbsticks do not allow D-Pad functionality in the same way(i.e. Double tap forward or backward).

Extremely well put

Generally the point is there are 2 main types of dictatorship.

1) Overt and visible - Stalin, Adolf,Gaddafi etc

2) Covert and invisible - UK/US/Western Democracies

This is sophisticated in that this true dictator never presents themselves directly but elects 2 candidates to dual one another to provide the illusion of democracy, whilst retaining loyalty and control using finance and power and privilege to keep the candidates in line.

Whenever a candidate wears out his/her welcome and the public becomes disenfranchised a new 'leader' is elected giving the impression of change. The true dictator of course never loses his power and never becomes tainted.

Option 1 almost always get overthrown at some point or another.

Option 2 never results in any true revolution and sufficiently divides the public to prevent any concerted assault on those in true power.

A simple question is this. If you lived in the USA for the past 10 years and you wanted to vote for a party opposed to war who should you have voted for?

Since both parties have fully supported the war the answer is neither choice would have given what you wanted.

Of course if a true 3rd candidate appears (Ross Perot) they are quickly threatened with death (or in the case of Ross Perot) his daughter as well. A quick on-line search will yield further information on this.
