Microsoft security chief trapped in endless identity sales pitch

So they are rolling this out /now/?

A bit short on information about Geneva, this article, but I believe the technology has been around for a damned long while: See http://www.schneier.com/blog/archives/2008/02/credentica.html. It would be pitiful if Microsoft's implementation were to become the standard just because only they can get businesses interested.

@Mike: OOo on OS X PowerPC

The PowerPC binaries for OOo 3 are a bit hard to find, but here they are:

(found via http://porting.openoffice.org/mac/download/aqua-PPC.html, except that the download link is broken and you have to rummage through the linked file system yourself).

Myron Evans

Some more on the work of Myron Evans:

http://opensys.blogsome.com/2005/07/01/generally-covariant-unified-field-theory-myron-w-evans/

The link on this page to Gerhard Bruhn's website is also illuminating. It also seems that Evan's number of published papers is rather low (according to the aias website (http://aias.us/index.php?goto=showPageByTitle&pageTitle=Unified_Field_Theory_papers) three in /APPB/ and /Physica B/. The publications in /Foundations of Physics Letters/ have been contested (http://www.springerlink.com/content/l1008h127565m362/)). It seems Wikipedia in this case did a good job of keeping nonsense of its pages.

Big Climate's strange 'science'

Climate modelling vs. economy modelling

``At the moment, I don't see that the evidence for anthropogenic climate change is strong enough to wreck our economies to try to change it.''

I am far from being a specialist in either area, but my impression is that economic models have a worse track record than climate models (a quick web search turns up http://ssrn.com/abstract=1030607, with the summarizing sentence ``Economic models are much less advanced [than climate models]''). It seems that one should take the uncertainty on both sides into account when weighting the possible outcomes.
