Bio student thrown in the clink for Muamba Twitter rant

kain preacher

confused Yank

First off when did having an opinion contrary to the majority become a crime ? If such trivial things get you locked up, why has not the people of phorm been tossed into jail? Bankers too. Oh and Politicians. Every time one of them says some thing vile, racist or homophobic are they going to be locked up?

You do know PBS is a must carry right ? Oops no you didn't.

kain preacher

Re: Just Say No

They can't. There is a list of mandatory must carry channels. Cable companies have always complained about must carry channels. You can wind up having to carry the Cantonese Chanel in West Va. In case NBC,ABC,CBS and FOX got to gather and said hmm since they must carry us lets charge them.

The Facebook job test: Now interviewers want your logins

kain preacher

Here is some thing else to think about. Lets say your current employer is nuts and demands that you hand over the password to all websites you go to that has forums. Lets say your only site that fits that criteria is a model rail road model RR site. Rather harmless right ? Nut you are an admin on that site. Now your employer can see deleted post or things that was never meant to be seen by the public. What if your employee deiced by all of the deleted post that you must have some whack jobs on that board. Worse yet your employer has access to the email list. Your employer does a search on the email address and finds out that a lot of them visit sites dedicate to people drinking animal blood doing pagan rituals and then having a giant shag party afterwards. I know it might sound far fetched but and ridiculous but then so is employers asking for FB log ins. I been five years ago if you said that employers were going to ask for this stuff I would of called you a paranoid loon.

kain preacher

Sorry I didn't like from el reg. But thanks for the link. But that just goes to show the mentality of some folks. So asking for FB password does not surprise me one bit.

kain preacher

Until last year, the city of Bozeman, Mont., had a long-standing policy of asking job applicants for passwords to their email addresses, social-networking websites and other online accounts.

Mad Mike what makes you think he is an American as oppose to some who is not in the US and does not understand US law ? What if you live in the UK and you upload some thing pro Nazis? Then it gets hosted on a German cloud server. Remember the Aussie that hosted a pro Nazis web site in Oz ? He land in the UK and Germany wanted him.

A sysadmin in telco hell

kain preacher

Re: Welcome to my hell

There are tools out there that will tell you which telco is the parent company. But that does you no good because you can't or are not suppose to talk to that company. The rules are you are suppose to talk to the company that is porting the numbers. The only time you are allowed to talk to the losing telco is if they pull the number early. When that happens the losing telco will often lie and said we released it so the company should be able to just pick it up . That is of course wrong . The process is automated. When orders fall out like this is not easy to just flip a switch. Just because they released the number does not mean they put the route in yet to forward the number to the new telco. The new route may not have a chance to propagate in the losing telco and or the new telco switches yet . When that happens the number can randomly fail.

kain preacher

Because each phone company is responsible for maintaining there own caller ID data base . Lets say I'm small telco . My customers shows up wrong to Comacast customers . All I can do is update with a national data base and hope that Comacast will look there with in 90 days . Comcast insists it's my fault even though I can't touch their caller ID data base . Oh it shows up right to ATT customers

kain preacher

Beware of porting numbers out of Verizon . They have a habit of pulling the plug early . Usually with in 48 hours of the port date. Why 48 hours ? Because there is this regulation that says the losing telco can not have direct contact with the customer 48 prior to the port . So it makes the new phone company look bad. Oh any one want to discuss caller ID hell ?

Re: High on their own supply when they invited the police in

Not in this case. The DA will argue Inevitable discovery in that if they had of said no the cops would of just waited to get a warrant .Inevitable discovery is a doctrine in United States criminal procedure that allows evidence of a defendant's guilt that would otherwise be considered inadmissible under the exclusionary rule to be admitted into evidence in a trial.

The doctrine was adopted first by the United States Supreme Court in Nix v. Williams in 1984. It holds that evidence obtained in violation of the defendant's constitutional rights is admissible in court if it can be established, by a preponderance of the evidence, that normal police investigation would have inevitably led to the discovery of the evidence. The rationale for the rule is that police misconduct is sufficiently deterred and the interests of society are better served by putting police in the same position that they would have been in without the rights violation, not a worse position.

kain preacher

I going to say that it was not there meth but just guarding. I could be wrong but if I'm not it would be more humane for the police to take them out back put one in there head . When the owner finds out he will not be so nice.

Re: What's surprising me...

Nope calling some a slut or a whore on national radio is no actionable the US. Now if he said she is a know hooker or has aids and sleep with men to get them infected. To when a liable, slander or defamation case you must prove that what was said to you was a lie,a 3rd person heard or read it and that it cost harm. Yes being called a slut on radio does not haply as courts have said in simlliar occasions opinions do not count. There is a difference between saying I think he is a pedophile and I know he is a pedophile .
