I allow stuff through on Ted's stories because a) they're sort of meant to be provocative and divisive, and I figure he can take the mudslinging or even welcomes it, and b) it's amusing to see how skirt-clutchingly outraged people can get about the Language. Cher probably used autotune, but there's some really obvious vocoder on some of her not very good 90s stuff. Vocoder is an effect that's meant to be heard (hideous as it is) - autotune is meant to be undetectable.

If meat is being produced illegally, the first thing to go is going to be animal welfare. I don't care what people eat as long as they pay sufficient mind to that, and try and keep suffering to an absolute minimum. That's the issue as far as I'm concerned.

On topic - yes, we mustn't forget that the Jews were not the only persecuted group. But I see a tendency to go full-circle on that and downplay the whole Jewish thing altogether. How many millions was it? A few. Not an insignificant number. And of course anti-semitism comes into it *sometimes* when you're talking about Holocaust denial/deniers - it's just as naive not to address it as it is lazy to fling the suggestion around. The Marathon is in fact the greatest place ever. But I don't think I've ever actually eaten there. They do a good Irish coffee, though.
There was an amazing kebab place in Camden right by the tube a few years ago - took them a good 20 mins to do two flame-grilled kebabs (done like wraps rather than the usual spreadeagled pitta thing) but we practically wept eating them, they were so good. Someone else came in wanting chips - the place didn't do chips. Sadly and inevitably it didn't last long. I hope some drunk jonesing on terrible junk food didn't beat them up.
Obligatory "Ultimately I only have a job because of ads and so if everyone blocked them I would be on the streets with my dog and he's not really the street-dog type although in theory he would be quite charming and possibly bring in some decent wedge but still let's hope it doesn't come to that eh" comment.
Well, if women didn't get pregnant there wouldn't be a workforce in the future. I know it's long-long-long-term thinking, but society kind of has to suck it up if it wants to survive.

Erm, you realise that not everything that's going to happen is going to happen according to what happened before. Just saying, like. I don't know if you remember but the main worry about bird flu was that it would mutate to transfer between humans rather than only from bird to human. Swine flu has achieved that. So it's already a bit different.
I don't think there's any need to panic, from what I've gathered so far, but being sensible about these things also means engaging your brain a bit and not just flapping your hand in dismissal because the papers have gone batshit.
I get the sense some kind of bad news saturation point has been reached, though, and everyone is so weary from the constant economic gloom reports that the threat of a major virus is like, whatever, I've already hit maximum glum level. And yeah, we think we've seen it all before.
