I have a question
Why does Microsoft feel the need to spend $1,500,000,000 on Win8 marketing when they use their usual tactics to insure that Win8 will be THEE ONLY operating system available bundled with a new PC?

I visited AT/T's website, clicked pre-order, now I'm waiting patiently for the phone to be delivered in a week or two. Why do people still find it necessary to camp outside the stores? On slim chance they'll get one in their hands a few days earlier, they'll have to deal with the server crashes, network outages, and have no phone coverage for hours or days while millions of people grab the latest Apple Gizmo. It's just waaaay too much drama.
To all of you, thank-you so much for beta-testing the phones and working out the ios bugs before mine arrives.
I once had problems with Google Wallet. I searched for a phone number or email to contact Google about the problem. They have zilch, nadda, nothing. They can't be bothered to talk to "little people" who have problems 'cause customer service support costs time and money.
I deleted my Google Wallet account and removed my credit card information. I say, Good luck with dat.
Visual Studio used to be a great IDE. Now, it gets all entangled with the rest of the operating system, is constantly going out to the Net, and the off-line help pages have been destroyed. Want help with the syntax of an API? No longer can you simply click help. Now, asking for help brings you to the MSN Forums along with many others all asking the same question, "What is up with this?"
I asked my carrier about using a cell phone in an airplane, adjacent towers and all. They told me they resolved those issues years ago. Navigation issues? Blah. Look up the term Faraday Cage because you're inside of one while the antennas are on the outside.
It's the stuff the airlines do not tell you. Such as was revealed in Air France flight 447 crash, aircraft report their position via SMS and there's a lot of information which is monitored from the ground. These messages may be on the same frequency as passenger's phones.
Chrome has improved greatly over the years. However, on my Mac it continues to misbehave. While I'm idle, it goes out to the Internet and continues to pull in many megabytes of data. I block it with Little Snitch. It finds a way around the blocks. I finally had to pull the bugger.
Before I pulled it, I tired the "sync" function. After spending hours organizing my bookmarks, Chrome trashed them when I logged on with a different machine.
Chrome sucks.
1) There's a difference between an export restriction vs. a retail restriction.
2) In the past, Apple has paid shoppers to stand in line and make it appear they were having difficulties buying the latest gizmo.
3) Myself, I have personally experienced being turned down by an individual store to purchase a popular product. I walked out and purchased it elsewhere. No tears. No news stories. No drama.
4) Waiting a few weeks or a few months often resolves out-of-stock or unavailable "issues."
Chrome took over my Mac and began uploading/downloading many megabytes of unknown data. I added rules to the firewall to get it to stop contacting chrome.google.com, support.google.com, and client.google.com - but, Chrome would find a away to get past the firewall. It also trashed all my bookmarks.
Ya know... Firefox 12 isn't bad. Good-bye Google!
Microsoft has not yet released an operating system as good as XP. Every new generation brings more quirks, more difficulty using hardware, more bloated software packed with features we did not ask for and cannot get rid of. Win7 is somewhat usable but lacks the versatility and the search function is simply broken. Win8 will be an excuse to shove Media Player down our throats so we'll loose even more.
I switched to Mac years ago. It's far from perfect and certainly has its own set of headaches. But, it's Unix based operating system.
Ah, Best Buy. I purchased a monitor from their website, downloaded the $50 rebate form, and picked it up at the store to save shipping. I asked them for another rebate form in the store. I was told it was only available through the website. Fair enough. I went back to download the rebate form again, but the rebate offer had changed to $75 and I missed the deadline.
Confused, I sent both the $50 and $75 rebate forms to the manufacturer who failed to honor the rebate. I called them on the phone to ask what the issue was? They told me that no such rebate offer was ever made. The actual rebate was $70, which to their credit they honored. Best Buy had been feeding me bogus rebate offers.
I googled this to discover they've been bouncing bogus rebate offers in other states as well.
Their cables are marked up 100x over cost. Their return policy is, "Once we have your money we don't know you." Yea, go out of business already.
I had a problem with Google Wallet and visited the website to call the phone number. There is no phone number. I tried to find an email address to write to. There is no email address. There is a javascript'd form submission which will pass your request on directly to the merchant, but you cannot speak to the gods who hold your financial information. I wrote to support at Google but the email bounced.
I removed all my banking information from Google Wallet and will never use it again. Good luck to anyone else who has to speak to the Google gods.
