Mobo maker builds 'powerless' processor cooling fan

do it in reverse

wonder why they don't try running it in reverse, i.e put a motor where the fan is and turn it into a stirling cryocooler (heat pump), that way it should "pump" the heat off the chip and into the air.

I hope they start making/selling one as it would look good on my northbridge

GRRR hotmail is rubbish now

I kind of use gmail to read my hotmail. I left hotmail plus for the worst service and customer service ever (explained below)

The reason I still use hotmail is because I don't want to change my email address, as it is used for everything and everyone knows it, however all my email from hotmail gets automatically forwarded to my gmail account. So I never need to sign into hotmail (and it doesn't lapse as I use MSN messenger most days). All this came about because..

I used to have a hotmail plus account, but one day hotmail decided that they would delete 9 years of my emails with the exception of the ones from the week before they deleted them. This was whilst using the web interface to hotmail in safari, I marked one email as "mark as read" and it deleted most of them across multiple pages,Anyway 15 emails to customer services later (the first 14 of which said

"Hi my name is <insert random generated name here> , your customer services representitive....

I am sorry you pay for our service and we have deleted all you emails. we are unable to retrieve them, having looked into your account details we can see that you access our systems using Norton Internet Security Suite (an achievement indeed from OSX, that has no Antivirus or similar programs installed on it, and is the only computer I access it from). Microsoft cannot be held responsible for the actions of 3rd party antivirus vendors like Norton, we are therefore unable to help"

After the same response from 14 customer service reps , and some angry emails from me, they finally refunded my subscription and gave me a years free hotmail plus access.

eBay boycott results in mixed feedback

jeffrey

hmmm

It started off as a place where anyone could put almost anything up for auction to the highest bidder, but for years now I've seen search results poisoned by countless 'power seller' items which are set price sales. Not only that, but how many actions are now VAT added items?

ebay are changing it so that VAT must be included not added, and if you don't want to see fixed priced items just click on the auctions only tab.

Sellers should be able to leave neutral comments

I both buy and sell, have a 100% record even after leaving 4 negative feedbacks for buyer not paying/ seller not sending. Sellers should be allowed to leave neutral feedback under the normal course of things (in case the buyer is very slow or unreasonable), or negative feedback if they win an unpaid item dispute. I think it might have been better if a seller leaving negative feedback won't show up in the buyers feedback score, (or number list at the top) but would still have the red button and comment in the list of their feedbacks. I have lost count of the times I have wanted to put negative feedback but didn't to protect my feedback score.

ammendment

Perhaps we should invent a shorthand unit for dissapation (instead of milliwats per nano wales) we should have the HMRC as they are so good at loosing things, 1 HMRC would be the details of 1 million people) so this I guess this little mishap with the nasal funky flour would be about a milliHMRC.

Time

@Stein Tore Dale

With regards to ticketing these days and the rediculously short time it takes to sell out events (3 minutes) . perhaps they should have a time based lottery over a period of several weeks. tickets get divided up into 1000 lots, computer does a secret lottery to randomly decide the date and time an individual lot will go on sale, then people can buy those tickets until all the tickets in the lot are sold and then you have to wait for the next one. yes it might be anannoying to log on several times to see if they are available, but at least it gives everyone more of a chance of getting tickets, and would reduce the burden on telephone lines and internet sites.
