"Because we had not seen sufficient evidence to support the claim that BT's new broadband service was consistently faster than its existing 8Mb service even at peak times, we concluded that the ad was likely to mislead," said ASA.
Who at ASA thinks the existing service is 8Mb? The weasel words "up to" have not been noticed by ASA? Did you really quote them accurately?
I know it is the silly season, but how does that twaddle even pretend to be news?
The only things harming domestic radio are foreign continuity announcers (Radio 4) and the need for subtitles in English (Radio 5). Even China Radio has better quality English speakers in its relays from Radio Luxembourg...... once the home of Dan Dare and the Top Twenty........ blimey, is nothing sacred?
More powers? The ICO cannot cope with what they receive. They take far too long to deal with enquiries. Waste time and money writing 3 page letters when 3 short paragraphs would suffice. Get them proper management not more power. A comparison with their opposite numbers in the Channel Islands would show up just how dreadful the mainland ICO actually is.
40% efficiency savings here could easily be made by the application of quality business standards.
DAB = that or Dump and Burn.
Why can't Government back off and leave things alone.
As for GfK NOP, have you seen the volume of complaints on the net about their unwanted phone calls? They don't call me any more since I asked for 10 guineas to answer each question - payable in advance. Seemed fair as they get paid for the results.
Oh and yes, I am content to use guineas, shillings, and even metres.......of the 208 variety.
Sod progress and Nanny McBroon.
Dessert Storm.....
Dear Nat West,
You were paid for with my money. I'll be in tomorrow. Have £10,000 ready for 10 am. No, you cannot charge me for it as it is only a refund of my own money. By the way, do you know where the nearest Northern Rock branch is, please?
Andy.
As opposed to the fixed "we are still a monopoly" minds at BT who will simply increase prices yet again.
See the recent letter from Warren Buckley about the "useful features of your landline" which on the back and in smaller sized print listed the April increases.. Even smaller print at the bottom tells you those prices are only correct at December 2009.
How many customers are they prepared to lose before taking a common sense approach?
A prerequisite to use is a viable signal. I have the gear, but not the signal. OK, I'm a bit in the countryside, but the main North South railway line is only a couple of hundred yards away.
An follow-up analysis by Essential Research on true signal availability, rather than promised, would be most useful.
The only association with Infinity is the wait for any reasonable service.
I had the "Great News" that BT can take great delight in telling me that they can now offer me 1 Mb less than I already enjoy.
With the extra 50p monthly they will grab through my phone bills what will they provide.
Expect it to be Road Tax. All tax, no roads. All 50p, no improvement.
