Lack of information from VAServe

I have an unmanaged VPS that has disappeared. I feel sorry for VAServe, other than choosing poor management software, they couldnt have predicted this! The VAServe status page is a bit sketchy, and i dont know which physical server my node was hosted on, so i have no idea if all my data has been lost, or when it might be restored :-(

Lets not bother

This cracks me up, this story describes part of the potential solution for upgrading the consumer comms system in this country. Yeah sure, the last mile while be difficult, and i agree not everyones drain will be big enough, and yes, we all know some people have septic tanks. But hey, if you could get fibre to within 100 meters of 80 % of the population then great! I know, why dont we not bother trying things out. Lets keep using BT's arcane copper network for ever and get left behind. Before posting critical comments, you should think, how would i do it if it was my money? If it was easy as laying some new fibre everywhere then it would have been done before. This is the sort of excellent problem solving skills that will give us the edge, and make us world leaders. Perhaps it wont work, but what have we lost? A very small proportion of the 15bn BT option!

I like ebay!

I dont get the anti Ebay feeling here, if you dont like the company or their service dont buy from them! Only way to change a company is to vote with your feet, if everyone stopped buying then they would have to change.

I like ebay, it means i get to buy stuff cheaper than if i bought it from somewhere else. I even got some fancy christmas lights in the post from from them today!

To be honest I dont understand what the French Government are up too, are they upset that it isnt a French company doing it?
