The truth of this is that the officers who shot were in plan clothes as was the officer who was shot. We have only the word of the living officers that they called out a warning, what we do know for certain is that six shots were fired and there was no return of fire. This just appears to everyone in the know that they saw a black man running with a gun, shot him and faked up the protocol later, a la De Menezis et al.
Ethanol is perfectly viable as a sustainable energy source, just not the way it's done in the US. Many countries in the world are viable places to grow sugarcane and the by-product (bagasse) can be burnt to run powerstations. It's even viable to produce ethanol from sugarbeet in more nothern climes .
As a non TV watching non licence payer I've had to put up with threatening letters from the Beeb for many years. I've now noticed that they've added "using a computer" to the list of activities that are Illegal without a TV licence. Is this because I now have the potential to watch their mind rotting pap via my broadband connection?

They will have to when the oil and uranium run out. No one knows how many years worth of fissile material is left in the ground but there will be a point when it will take more energy to mine it then it will produce in a reactor. Fission is not sustainable because the earth is not creating more uranium. Long term we have no choice but to go 100% renewable energy, the smart money (Germany for example) is starting now.
In the many decades we have had nuclear fission electricty generation we have not come close to solving the political problem of dealing with the waste it produces or the financial problem of decommissioning old plants. To quote someone who's name I forget, "Nuclear fusion is 40 years away, and always will be." Pumped Water electircity storage is about 80% efficient over a store and regen cycle. If you are using a free resource to generate this electricity (i.e. wind, tidal, solar, biomass. etc) then the storage losses are not relevant. We can go to 100% renewable electricity in this country and though it will be difficult, expensive and inconvienient, it is the right thing to do.
