Given the Spaniglish words on that, I doubt it was an actual Hispanic d00d. It reads more like stereotypical stuff more than what someone who was actually from Mexico would write, at least. ("Puñeta" gives it away. The only time I've heard that in the last 2 years referring to a person has been while watching Machete.)

Oh that dream sounds nice, but it wouldn't really work like that given that Jobs was for all the ugly things we hate Hollywood for (inane copyright extensions, DRM, "IP protection", stupid patents) so it would be more like the Rise of the Empire.

link-local and other types of address remove the need for NAT, which used to be "I need private addys to connect to my junk w/o being ISP dependant".
The mandatory 64-bit host segment removes the need for NAT in consumer networks, as you have 2^64 IP addys to use from your ISP, and it'll work automagically.
The only thing you don't have with IPv6 is the "hide my public IP address", which is mostly security theater. The real protection you have with "NAT" is actually the fact that all NAT implementing devices will also have firewall rules by default that block outside traffic from the inside.
By definition, end-users will get a 64-bit host segment with IPv6, which means you will always have at least a 2^64 address range, eliminating the need for NAT in most consumer markets. Consumer routers can simply implement the same firewall rules they do today, but they'll get a load off their back on preserving state for NATted connections.
Local connectivity can be done with link-local addresses or the site-local ones if you really need to subnet the local IPv6 addys.
And contrary to what this article's poster said, you *can* set up static addresses on IPv6.

The only ones that would benefit from SIMless handsets are the operators. Try using your Sprint phone on Verizon? Mexico's Iusacell? Can't? That's because unlike the SIM-toting handsets, the phone itself has all the identity stuff and thus can be thoroughly gimped by the operator.
I ditched Iusacell because they went down the CDMA SIMless route. SIMless phones are for me a relic of the 20th century.
I had the idea that it was more like the Poles cracked it (by brute force, but they did crack it), then built the bombes, then realized they were going to get 0wned when the Germans beefed up the Enigma scramblers and sent all their research to the Brits right before they got themselves 0wned.

Someone made my brain recall this. I was fooled into believing this was either a Natural Born Killers type of movie, some corny reference to the Doom videogame or something like that. It isn't. The whole thing turns boring 20? 25? Minutes in and nevr really recovers.
In fact, the ending *improves* the movie because at least something happens!

Yes, I consider those people snobs. However, putting down $10k on a supercomputing project actually serves a purpose; the ubercomputer will actually do stuff faster, while the $2k cartier will have *less* functions than a casio.
At $600, people actually expect to buy something that can at least do the same stuff they do on their PC. The iPad can't. Only wealthy people are buying 'em, the rest of us remain unimpressed and keep on using PCs for real work.
Even though people hate using Windows PCs, it's the stuff where they actually do *real work*. Can you do your job on an iPad instead of a PC?

They aren't using crap archs like x86. Why ruin their superior hardware with it? The Cell is a good thing to have in a gaming rig; by now devs should be already familiar with it, and at the very least they are used to PPC arch by now. Switching to x86 would be more painful than it seems. So yeah, it's possible they're adding AMD Fusion for their graphical stuff, but I doubt it'll take over the main processor.
Retard is as offensive in the US as it is in the UK. See the whole Tropic Thunder shitfest for their 'full retarded' joke. In fact, it was probably a US dude who complained.
They're the ones pushing the 'don't called handicapped people handicapped!' thing, calling blacks 'african-americans', sticking 'happy holidays' instead of 'merry xmas', and other exaggerated sensitivities.

Gillipollas is a non-word in Mexico. In fact, Mexicans who haven't had any contact with Spaniards probably think it's a kind of chicken (pollo) or something.
I had to throw away the Spanish version of Wizard and Glass after I found out that they translated 'motherfucker' and 'asshole' as 'gillipollas', which ruined the insults and made them sound lame.
Mind you, the same will be said in South America about 'pendejo', which means 'brat' over there, but something much more akin to 'asshole' in Mexico. (In fact, it means 'ass hair').
Oh, I am screaming at MS. They're enforcing "secure boot", *and* appstore-only apps ... basically, they're out-Apple-ing Apple in this. There will be no reason for us techies to buy a WOA device because we can't rip out Win8 and put Linux in it.

Nope, I actually found it dull because it *wasn't* 1997-style gameplay. It was more Halo-style gameplay, with linear levels, a lame 2 gun carrying limit (Halo's inheritance) surrounded by a nice-looking but nigh explorable world.
I actually found Doom 3 fun, though that one was similar to Half-Life...
Oh so very true. I remember all the talk about StarCraft 2 being canned because of WoW being more profitable. Yet we remained loyal, waiting for Blizzard to churn it out. Before DNF, Diablo 2 had a long dev cycle, so long that some people were betting on which would come out: Linux Kernel 2.4.x or Diablo 2.
It's annoying, but it's good when it finally comes out. Unlike DNF.
I could think of a lot of 'em:
- Porting BES to Linux, decouple it from the M$ stuff.
- Support other platforms besides LN/Domino and Exchange. Good is pwning 'em hard because of that!
- Fix the damn BB OS and put out decent specs on the damn things! The #1 cause of BB user rage is the clock o' death caused by shared mem going to 0. I'd expect RIM to just slap on 2G shared mem and call it a day but nooooo...
With cable, I used to get screwed over because anyone could clog up the local segment. I would get dialup speeds just because my neighbor would be downloading stuff. Also, over here cable co's have always used NAT, so you get 10.0.0.0/8 IPs and a crapload of problems with some sites. Finally, any P2P traffic is either banned or throttled, large downloads are usually throttled as well. Gamers have complained about latency, so that's also b0rked on Cable.
With ADSL, I might not get the big speed offerings Cable users get, but at least if they tell me I'll get 6Mbps, I'll probably get at least 5.5 Mbps!
