You can say what you want. You can list it. You can sing it. It doesn't matter. The reality that you choose to ignore is that out of the box, windows is easier to install and, for the most part, easier to use. The moment 'command line' becomes involved, you've lost the race. The moment you have to pick between 5 different desktops, you've lost the race.

Understand - I'm no windows fan. And sorry, comparing the problems Mac has had vs windows doens't cut it. Mac's can say they are better and still lost to marketing/extortion, whatever. A viable consumer linux desktop is barely a toddle in the scheme of computer years - the linux communities biggest problem..is itself. One only has to read the whiny ass posts to see it.

Conan hit the nail on the head - the distro thing is an unmitigated disaster, as far as desktop penetration goes.

In fact, you should all print Conan's post and put it on your walls. Linux might have a chance then.

Unions Suck

I do think for myself - and I don't assume a union is an answer for anything. Unions, like most things in this world, have outlived their usefullness. They have gotten more and more corrupt as time has gone on.

For instance, their latest ploy is to make it so that when voting for whether to unionize, that your vote be public. Folks, here in Amierca, that is NOT how we work. The secret ballot is there for a reason - to PREVENT what they are trying to do, namely shame/intimidate people into voting a certain way. When I heard this crap was being attempted, I knew unions had jumped the shark.

So save YOUR brainless pratter about how good unions are. If they have to attempt to resort to THIS kind of crap to unionize a place (Walmart btw) then it's time they are stopped. Period. There is no excuse for this, Mr. critical thinker.

Darren, YOU are the parrot here - and are mostly likely involved with a union. Dear God protect me from people like you. Apparently you are a product of the good ol' unionized teaching force - the primary problem with education here.

These days, unions are about making sure NO ONE can be fired. They make sure that your performance has little to do with your job. They make sure you wage is high while the company takes a nose dive into the dirt (anyone remember Eastern Airlines? Unions might not have caused the problems but they pretty much helped put an end to the company)

Let's talk about dock workers, for instance. Dock workers. Sorry guys, but that's not exactly a rocket-scientist job. Take a look at what those guys make and hour and what their benefits are. All for moving boxes around. It will make you sick, well, unless you happen to be a dock worker of course.

Unions are corrupt to the core. At one time, they served a purpose - employees were being exploited. That is just not a huge problem in the US anyore, despite what people like Darren want to tell you.

So please - do think for yourselves. Don't trust what anyone has to say, INCLUDING the people telling you that unions are good.

I despise Visa. The fact that a) they are managed by different banks and b) said bank can sell it to another bank just SUCKS. I had my SunTrust Visa, which was managed by MBNA sold to Bank of America. We all know how much ass BOA sucks. Well they promptly switched me to a no grace period card, since I never carry a balance (on any of my cards). So I TRIED to cancel - talk about rude account reps. Took me two calls to cancel.

I NEVER have this trouble with Amex..why? because Amex controls Amex. Are they perfect? Hell no. Are they 5000x better than Visa? Yep.

Wake up people

I have several friends that are cops here in the states. The reality, which most people want to ignore, is that they deal with a LOT of bad guys. The mere threat of stun keeps them out of hand-to-hand most of the time. And, btw, to use a taser here, you MUST get shot by one so you know what it feels like.

It's easy to count the number of tases - but irrelleveant. What needs to be compared is the number of dust-ups vs the number of tases over the course of time. This idea that bad guys come along peacefully most of the time is just stupid. I don't believe most of these BS stories about people getting tased for no reason. Hardly ever happens.

The option normally is a tase or a dust-up. Tase them. Cops have it hard enough already.

You wish!!!!! I despise Vista but XP is just fine, thank you. Gonna take a lot more than that for linux to gain desktop penetration.

Grandma is't going to be using desktop linux anytime soon guys, sorry. The biggest chink in the linux desktop wheel is linux users. Way too many prefer that linux be the desktop underdog (they wouldn't be geek-elite if it had 50% of the desktop - of course, they aren't geek elite anyway so it's moot).

It's doesn't deter because it's never been ALLOWED to operate. If people stay on death row for 5 years, people have no fear of it. If Johnny gang banger got fried a month after his verdict, I guarantee you it'd have an effect.

I'm sick and tired of everyone in the world complaining. If we do nothing, we get bitched at for not being world leaders. If we step in, we either didn't do enough fast enough or we did it too harshly. It's a joke.

So it's fine by me - you guys stay out of the US - and hopefully we can return ALL of our troops home. None of you deserve our help. The only reason you HAVE the freedom to spout this nonsense is because of the US. So knock yourselves out. Hopefully next time we'll just wave and let you sink.

Gore Recount fantasy land...

Not sure what recounts you are talking about. Every recount had Gore lose, no matter how they tried to twist and turn it. I recall quite a few of them where liberal news papers were part of the 'watch' team - and he still lost.

And after watching how he's...handled...himself the past few years, I can only thank God that he didn't get elected.

Whatever on the peace prize. I mean, if they can give a known terrorist a peace prize, they will give it to anyone. It's quite a joke these days - Jimmy Carter is perhaps the worst president of the 20th century and they gave it to him. All I can figure is the committe is made of people that missed out on how well appeasement worked with Hitler.

And wrongo - most of the science is in question. Read some facts. The movie was a joke - and it's not a suprise the libs gave him an oscar for it.
