I see an article about an AI programme that's gone comprehensively titsup.
Why? Well the researchers thought they were training it to recognise ${thing} but it took the easy option, recognising the permission watermarks in the test pics of ${thing}.

I've never understood the attraction of fake ink cartridges.
1) The quality of the ink is invariably crap and the output generated equally so.
2) Being crap the ink tends to gum up the cleaning system rather quickly, writing off the printer.

In their heyday, a recent release film on VHS cost about 70 quid to buy outright. A tenner to rent made sense to everyone. Once DVD prices dropped to 30 quid (which is about said tenner in eighties money), renting moved all the way downmarket to become the exclusive province of those rather less likely to take care of what they'd rented. Costs spiralled and income dropped like a stone.

ISTR that the F-111 had a load of avionics in the cockpit roof so the seats fired downwards. 111 pilots were drilled in half-rolling the aircraft before pulling the ejection lever until it became an automatic reaction. This to ensure that low-level bangouts didn't result in firing the crew into the turf as the 111 was often used in a TERCOM guided, low-approach role.
It took the USAF a while to figure out why there was a noticeable spike in fatalities amongst pilots ejecting at low altitude on other aircraft types....(!)

Many years ago a mate used to commute on the Victoria Line.
One day he got a seat at Oxford Circus. This impossible feat was achieved courtesy of the Chicken Dopiaza he'd had the previous night, the lack of any serious volume of air in a packed tube carriage and a particularly nasty and voluminous Dopiaza fart.
The doors opened at Oxford Circus, the carriage emptied and nobody got on. Many tried, but thought better of it.
