back to article Micron's Chinese DRAM antagonist hit with US export boycott

The US department of commerce has issued an edict that effectively bans American companies exporting technology to Chinese DRAM maker Fujian Jinhua Integrated Circuit Company. The order was issued on Monday, US time. The Chinese company was caught up in the legal battle between Micron and UMC. Micron went to the federal …

Good, they stole Micron's technology and then got the corrupt Chinese courts to ban Micron. There need to be tough sanctions on China to stop China from doing things like this. Free trade is only free is both sides are playing by the rules.

Sorry you must be mistaken, Micron's technology was always China's.

Just like the South China Sea and Tibet.

Heavy? Yes. But once you get it moving in a proper swing, the skull in the path won't stop it. I think there's precedence in some of the weapons of old... broad axe, broad sword.

National Security and "Sanctions". Both of those.

The previous US governments were using both sparingly to meet particular political goals. They were also a measure of last resort when everything else failed.

The current administration is clearly using both as a day-to-day trade positioning tool as well as for open economic warfare against anyone seen as even remotely non-compliant. It is exactly that "non-compliant", not adversarial - with Russia, China and the NATO members of Canada, Germany and Turkey in the same bucket. It is not even comply or else. It is comply. No else.
