back to article Oh Capita! Thirsty outsourcing titan finds small oasis in contract desert

Capita's Customer Management tentacle is to consolidate claims-handling on behalf of the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FCSC) in one of the few good pieces of news this year for the beleaguered tech biz. The loss-making outsourcing titan signed an extension with M&S in January, prolonging customer service phone and …

Apparently Capita is preparing to roll out the big guns and will “deploy advanced digital and customer management capabilities to drive improvements in experience across all channels”.

Delivering your promises on time would be a big step.

But they have been doing it for the last 10 years... Why'd they wait?

Crapita - you know it's going to be smooth and successful every time. Hahahahaha

Best left to their TV Licensing goons threatening single mums on council estates on behalf of the BBC. Any other business model is doomed to fail.

    Public funding

"In fact the only deals London Stock Exchange-listed Capita has shouted about on an official basis is the extension with M&S, one with the Beeb and one with NI Invest."

Financial Services Compensation Scheme - public body

    Beeb - public funded

    NI Invest - public body

    So that just leaves M&S...

      Re: Public funding

Clarification for you: although set up by statute, all FSCS operations are funded by the financial services industry, not the public purse.

To be fair, the communications us workers are getting is quite massive. We get several emails a week detailing whats happening, which we didn't get before.

There is already a big consolidation effort going on and it seems to be moving in the right direction. A lot of good people have already jumped ship, but there are still plenty of good ones left. The lack of investment was a huge problem in the past, as well as the atrocious way in which different departments communicated internally with all the red tape and cross charging making the simplest of things take weeks to complete. Hopefully this will be a thing of the past soon.

Capita was a messy machine with many cogs and no oil. but I hope it is going to have fewer cogs and oiled sufficiently in the future, else we will all have a sore ass from lack of lube

The thing is that Capita is so big that different employees get very different experiences.

I dont get lots of progress emails...
