So good they named him twice,....
"Dre Dre"?
A long-running trademark dispute between rapper Dr Dre and Dr Drai, gynaecologist and author of 20 Things You May Not Know About A Vagina, has been dismissed by the the US trademark office. The case was lodged in 2015 after Pennsylvania-based gynaecologist Draion M Burch attempted to trademark the name Dr Drai. But the …
"Dr. Dre is not a medical doctor nor is he qualified to provide any type of medical services or sell products specifically in the medical or healthcare industry"
So strictly speaking the musician shouldn't be using the protected title of Dr and we should look forward to a protracted investigation and legal case
Jeremy Clarkson … can technically call himself Doctor as a University has awarded him a doctorate, ergo he is a Doctor
He was awarded an honorary doctorate, and you're not supposed to use the title "Doctor" with one of those, only an earned doctorate. However, this is the UK rather than Germany so there are no laws about what titles you can or can't use (except for fraudulent purposes). Hence "Doctor" Liam Fox, even though the man has no earned doctorate and hasn't been a practising medic for decades. I do wish the media would either use the correct Mister or put Doctor in quotes to show Fox up as a poseur.
"Hence "Doctor" Liam Fox, even though the man has no earned doctorate and hasn't been a practising medic for decades."
I wasn't aware that medical doctors who possess only a Bachelor of Medicine could not call themselves 'Dr' if not practising. Can anyone else confirm?
Also, as MC Hawking once said, "Dr Dre can suck my dick, that bitch got no Ph.D."

@Chris G
"'... I'm giving you a prescription for these earphones as I am concerned about your cool.'"
Well, unless they're Sennheiser HD-600s V-Moda Crossfades (OK - Audio Technica ATH-M50s at a pinch), you can keep your damn prescription! And if it's for those Beats buggers, I see a malpractice suit in your future (Dr Dre, not Lord Chriss G (blush))! So HAH!
AND DO ADD IN German Maestro Headphones (use to be MB Quart) and specifically
the GMP-450 Pro which have 14 Hz to 24200 Hz for their frequency response AND
their THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) is ONLY 0,06% (0.06% for USA people) which
is a STUNNING figure for their price point
I would take a look at these:

In terms of Dr. Dre ...by convention he SHOULD NOT be using the moniker Dr. in front of his name as he has NO doctorate degree (Ph.D) in any discipline. But when you have 2 BILLION U.S.+ in wealth from selling out to Apple for his Beats headphones, he is allowed to say Who Cares?
Beats headphone aren't bad headphones (they're actually pretty good for bass!), but I personally would spend for some higher end headphones and in terms of PRICE to PERFORMANCE RATIO, for $350 U.S. on Amazon, the audio QUALITY you get is right up there with Sennheiser and others. Since I have the Studio Reference Headphone versions of AKG, Sennheiser, MB Quart, German Maestro, Sony, Grado, etc. I can make a pretty good comparison of them all.
Well, if Dr Dre can't call himself Dr, WTF is Prof. Green gonna do?
Personally, I only make the bank (and the occasional business I'm complaining to) call me 'Dr' --- although the owner of our local Chippy, having learned that the scruff in high vis and rigger boots has got a PhD, delights in shouting "Alright, Doc!" at the top of his voice when I walk in.
When adding a friend to my car insurance I figured I'd use 'Dr' as she has a PhD, and maybe it would be a bit cheaper. The bloke on the other end had never heard of the concept of a doctorate and got really confused when I explained she's not a medical doctor.
Also your chippy owning friend has clearly missed the "what's up doc?" joke that's right there.
Dr Liam Fox is a qualified medical practitioner.
The protected title in the UK is Registered Medical Practitioner
ene fule can call themselves doctor, even dieticians in white coats with stethoscope.
A very quick check of the GMC medical register shows that Liam Fox qual. 1983 is Registered WITHOUT a licence to practice - someone hasn't kept up to date, been appraised or revalidated, all policies pursued by...
politicians passeem. Do as I say....
Common usage is that for those of us with MBBS / MBCHB we are allowed the honorific Dr
Oddly at my diving club, most had PhD's, none used doctor outside of the lab/work, but muggins here used Dr without a PhD. Still do...
Well, if the lyrics of Dr. Dre are to be believed, I would expect fake Drai to wind up with a cap in his buttocks and a diss song to go with it.
Wait, didn't Dre sell off Beats to Apple? Perhaps he should have used their lawyers to fight this. Didn't Apple once get the company Pear to change their logo because a pear looks like an apple?

Nothing "Beats" a Littman Stethoscope for auscultation. Ask any Clinician
Trust Me, I am not a Doctor.
