    I thought DX in a data centre...

    referred to Direct eXpansion cooling, i.e. the traditional mode of operation of a pumped refrigerant.

    Also DupleX in comms.

    Oh joy, the latest idiotic marketing buzzword. Hopefully this one passes over soon, because it's going to be irritating while it's around.

    DX stands for long distance

    In ham radio parlance, DX stands for distant country. Actually any country that is not the one you are currently in. But it is a form of sport to collect as many rare DX contacts on the radio that you can. The current one is Bouvet Island

    All the good ones have been taken!

    Will no one ever learn that there just aren't enough Two or even Three Letter Abbreviations to go 'round?

    That's why we have tens of thousands of symbols for the tens of thousands of words that we use.

    Oh that's cute a different name for what's been happening for years in companies. Only difference is, some marketing puke during a drug fuelled haze thought he saw money at the end of the tunnel.
