back to article Productivity through tech, UK firms. More cyber, more cloud, more ERP!

Low take-up of readily available tech is fuelling Blighty's "deep-seated productivity problems", the club for supposed captains of industry the CBI has said. The government needs to build an ecosystem that will encourage greater investment and for British businesses to act and make the most of these opportunities, according to …

    CBI... Low productivty

Come on guys, you're the very people who cut back on training schemes resulting in low skilled workers

Also you outsource at a drop of a hat, and cheerfully hire 100 min wage workers instead of investing in high tech plant that can do the job of a 100 min wage workers.

And keep wages low so that anyone with any talent wont bother applying as they'll be earning 5K to 25K less .

So the low take up is caused by what exactly........... oh yes by C level manglement who are exactly the people making up the CBI.....

...and don't forget the effect MBAs have on technology-based businesses: diminshed productivity due to their inability to understand the business or to avoid pissing off those who do.

I agree with the gist of the article and this comment 100%

CBI has been at the forefront of encouraging dumbing down business and employees skill for years.

Total fuck up. Outside of burger flipping - and even MaccyD has computers to order now - all business is driven by software.

Fucktard MBAs, pennyclip idiots, etc. Now find themselves with loads of middle managers but zilch software heads.

    From ostrich to magpie.

So you go from sticking your head in the sand to thieving.

They recommend pushing more business to the cloud which is mostly run by companies from other countries that don't pay tax so the benefit is making more people unemployed.

    Absolute genius.

    Stop

    More cyber, more cloud....more consultants!

Oh wait, you said productivity ENHANCEMENT. In that case, never mind :)

The government did build the ecosystem

UK providers for G-Cloud sprang up. Then e.g. HMRC buggered off to AWS and they went bust.

Are the CBI serious about this or do they just want to collect commission for selling Amazon and Microsoft?

I doubt that anyone who has been involved in a SAP or Peoplesoft/Oracle ERP/CRM marathon project would have anything but sympathy for the poor Danes.
