back to article Physicists confirm X(4140)

Physicsts from Syracuse University working in collaboration with scientists at CERN have confirmed the existence of a new tetraquark particle. Known as X(4140), it is a rare particle with four quarks: two quarks and two antiquarks, according to the university. X(4140) is a heavy particle with two charm and two strange quarks …

What is it with the physicists? Boring, boring name. Please tell me we've not run out of them! Can we not take a leaf out of Debian's book and use character names from films? Maybe LotR or, to tighten the feedback loop, Star Trek?

The star trek DS9 had 1 quark and also an anti quark from parallel universe

Icon for when quark meets anti quark

          DS9

It was a parallel universe but not an anti-universe. Kira spent time in the company of her double with no explosive effects.

When I first learned about quark colours at Uni, the (British) prof used the names red, white, and blue. Afterwards, a few of us were going up the elevator with him where he encountered a colleague. Our prof commented on what he had just taught and was immediately asked about names. The answer caused a row over such "chauvanistic" names. The preferred ones then were white, grey, and black.

    I wonder

If it has 2 quarks and 2 anti-quarks is it a tetraquark or an anti-tetraquark?
