    Less is more.

The more and more junk they add into these suites the worse it gets.

You just need a slick efficient AV only that sits in the background doing it's thing.

But, but marketing needs some """reason"""1 to sell you new kit.

1 New!! IMPROVED!! (You know the typical marketing bullshit.)

" it points out affects only its consumer security software "

thats alright then, you never see it on consumer PCs in the real world

They all get sold Norton, or McAffee, or sometimes Kaspersky. So no worries there...........

Basically true, except for a lot of IT types who won't touch anything on your list.. except Kaspersky. I should qualify this by saying: "at least for the IT types not running Linux".

I did say consumer PCs........I wouldn't consider your "IT" types as "consumers"

True, you did. I also know a lot of IT types who do run Windows Home Edition and some even run McAfee.

          1. x 7

            "and some even run McAfee."

            idiots

you do understand I was trying to impart a degree of irony in my original post?

            1. Mark 85

Rats... missed the irony. My apologies.

    Titanium! Maximum! Security!

Oh lord.. even the product's name is horrible..

What is it about security vendors releasing complete crap to the SOHO market?

I don't want a pretty animation of something running a magnifying glass over my hard disk etc. etc.. I just want to be protected from known viruses and malicious behaviour...
