back to article SpaceX ROCKET HOVER-SHIP space station mission now on Friday

An attempt to launch a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket and land it on a floating robotic 'spaceport drone ship' has been delayed until January 9. The experiment was to be part of a SpaceX plans to be able to return, refurbish and re-use key elements of its rockets. The flight was aborted at the last minute due to a problem with the …

I haven't been following this closely,

but I'm really confused...are there two? Or is a bad copy / paste job?

An attempt to launch and recover a SpaceX Falcon ... been delayed until January 9

    but then...

SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket and Dragon spacecraft lifted off from the Launch Complex 40 at the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station...

The spacecraft sits atop a huge rocket.

"SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket and Dragon spacecraft WAS DUE TO LIFT off from the Launch Complex 40 at the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida, for their fifth official Commercial Resupply (CRS) mission to the orbiting lab."

      Not 'lifted off' !

I guess they didn't have enough reindeer to get the 5.200 lbs off the ground.

5,200lbs? What's that in real money? SI or official Reg units would do, just not this pre-medieval nonsense.

      What's that in real money?

About the same weight as six and a half Olympic-sized badgers.

Is that the pre-1890 Olympic standard badger or the lighter, modern badger?

    Flying milk cow ?

    I like the funny headlines.

But often a few words of explanation would help.

I suspect it's to do with one of the student experiments being delivered to the ISS.

      See http://www.theregister.co.uk/2015/01/05/spacex_santa_has_late_christmas_presents_in_its_sack_for_iss_astronauts/

Of course it could be that they're actually launching a cow. The space industry is taking a bizarre turn lately. For example, NASA wants a huge lasso in space now.

For catching the cow again, obviously.

Who needs a rocket if you've got a cow? We all know the cow is capable of jumping over the moon!

The Santa flight hasn't delivered the XBOX and PS4 to the ISS yet. A spokesman for Yodel explained that they were overwhelmed with Black Friday and Christmas orders, and would be working round the clock to deliver the backlogged parcels.
