So are you saying that Apples user base has declined, or has the table market place grown, with the cheap landfill tablet portion of the market place growing (unsurprisingly) more quickly than the high end? Are the people buying these devices using them as much as iPad users are using theirs? What is the scope to monetize a market segment that blatantly doesn't like spending money? Or are you just trolling? FFS, report the fucking news. By all means try and use wit, or even a bit of snark, but this is just 487 words of fluff shilling for Samsung.
High-end Samsung slabs, cheapie Androids take healthy BITE out of Apple's market share
The rise of entry-level slabs coupled with an "ageing" portfolio caused Apple iPad sales growth to flatline in calendar Q3 and market share to crash, analyst figures have confirmed. Global sales-in numbers – shipments to retailers and distributors – show that 51.5 million slabs were rolled out in the three months, up 113 per …

"Are the people buying these devices using them as much as iPad users are using theirs?"
And you know exactly how much every iPad user is using their iPad? Or do you "know" about some web site logs that prove irrefutably exactly how much every single tablet throughout the world is being used? Or do you know of a few logs that show how much a few websites get hits off a tiny fraction of tablets? Internet browsing is not the only use of a tablet.
As for a "market segment that blatantly doesn't like spending money", perhaps you should consider that a lot of people do not mind spending money, they just do not like to spend more money than they need to.

What an utterly banal response. We know how many tablet specific apps are sold on each platform. In fact we know how many apps are sold, period. Web browsing, while not an exact representation of what is used, is the best metric we have available. So as a developer, these are the metrics I have available to me to decide which is the better platform to develop for. Incidentally, whilst this 'story' has been written in a 'moar luserz is teh bettah!!11!!!!!11!' style, it doesn't take into consideration that as a measure market share is completely and utterly meaningless.

You get exactly what you pay for in this world.

"You get exactly what you pay for in this world."
@Regtard - the thing is, people want different things "in this world". I can almost guarantee that whatever you think is "the best" in any category of goods, I will disagree with you because I *do* consider the initial purchase price as relevant. As I've asked you before, do you drive only Bentley and Rolls-Royce?

Laughable
Apple Q3 stagnant?
Err, maybe because the launch of the 'new' products was scheduled for Q4?
Instead of micro-nitpicking maybe it would be worth looking at the annual statistics which give a better picture or do we say 'on Thursday last week at 3.31pm Apple sold 3 less products than the same time last year, a drop of 0.0007863%'.
Micro management of statistics is as useful as concrete toilet paper.

Re: Laughable
Meanwhile in the real world.... Yes Apple sales were stagnant - for the last quarter!
All figures for public companies are presented quarterly, sales and profit/loss are measured quarter on quarter and against the same quarter as last year. It is not micro-nitpicking it is business statistics!
Just because something new is coming next quarter does not mean that this quarter is meaningless. The figures are still the same. Saying "I'm sorry Mr Shareholder, this quarter's sales figures are crap but just wait until you see next quarter" is the Board's job and they have to adjust forecasts accordingly.
So the next figures will be fourth quarter and year end - maybe then you will be happy with the annual numbers. No-one is interested in day on day or even month on month (generally) but quarter figures are the backbone of company stats.

Blackberry all over again
This is the Blackberry story all over again. Market leader refuses to offer consumers the options they want, and thinks their kit is so "beloved" and "addictive" that they will forever be able to wring a healthy profit out of their declining market slice.
In order to save the company from complete ruin, Apple needs to immediately switch all its mobile devices over to Android.
