    Obviously

"“Google is all about opening up the world’s information... It’s going against the grain of what Google does.”"

This one was born in the morning and I have to wonder if it was this morning. I find it hard to believe anyone actually buys that crap about opening up anything. The GOOG is all about making money and if you don't believe that feel free to look up GOOG on Nasdaq.

You blokes at el Reg didn't tell the poor Mr. Court that naive wasn't in the dictionary, did you?

I doubt he meant "opening up" in a good way, especially if you read the full quote, which seems to reflect exactly what you suggest.

    Consumer Watchdog?

When I started the article, I actually thought this meant an public organization, instead of a privately funded group... Though it is hard to make the distinction in the US.

They're linked to an astroturfing outfit

"Summary: A look beneath the surface reveals that ConsumerWatchdog.org is “the Foundation for Taxpayer and Consumer Rights”, which is affiliated with/derived from Grassroots Enterprise, a Washington/SF-based AstroTurfer for hire"

    Thumb Up

    They are indeed

Privately funded but have an interesting track record of sticking it to the man, the man being in turn the auto insurance industry, big pharmacy, big health and a variety of other industries that are the core of the malaise in the USA today and now they're having a go at Google, more power to them.
