The US military will play a leading role in defending homeland America from cyber attacks, and this will include providing cybersecurity to key infrastructure on US soil. So.

Bring down the US with a Gary McKinnon or two, then?

    Martial law imposed on cyberspace?

Seriously though, why is the army protecting civic structures? Isn't that the job of the FBI or Homeland security.

Also, "Perfect Citizen" is the most ominous name ever. I choose to believe there's a subversive marketing executive in the DOD whose just trying to get the truth out there to the public by re branding all the subversive projects with names like this.

Server Message Block Busters .... Ignore at your Peril

    Lewis, Hi,

"One insider was quoted as saying that "Perfect Citizen is Big Brother". ..... Quite possibly so, but what sort of controls does he offer? And although its a relatively new field with myriad aspects of novel virtual power to exercise and master pilot, it is not without its grand masters into the edutainment and mentoring of bull-in-a-china shop newbies/SMART IntelAIgent Virgin Soldiers already way ahead in the environment, as was shared and registered as recently as yesterday with Andrew Orlowski in "Big Brother Controls aint Heavy in Heady Brigade Operations ....." .... Too smart for Thames House in Blighty, do you think, or just what a Turing machine orders, and one of their "We`have no idea what you are talking about" operations so beautifully plausibly deniable. Surely it cannot be something of similar vein from that easily bought whore of a dodgy service on the Victoria Embankment, although such incompetence as the vague FCO puppets display, would be a remarkably effective cover for Super Stealthy AIMissions, with waffling politicos being decidedly denied the opportunity to fcuk up so right royally as has been the historical evidence of their recent past form. Or is it an Office Of Cyber Security SkunkWorks Programming Project with GCHQ pushing all the buttons and pulling all the levers in an Intelligence Community Enterprise?

    I find this funny.

So the DoD servers are like a busted damn. Time after time they fail repeatedly security tests and penetration tests. Out of ALL the government servers the DoD is the worst.

With them protecting us.... Well that is going to be a onsided battle.

I'd hope that despite being part of the military

and accepting that discipline is necessary for such a role, that they might offer a sensible career path for suitably qualified individuals who really are not suited to the military lifestyle. In the national interest.

    It will be OK

The USA is still a labour intensive economy. If all the IT infrastructure went away the damage would not be a severe as most think. Mostly it just would be irritating and inconvenient.
