back to article Queen to get an iPad (the Queen, not a queen)

The Queen is to join the nation's fangirl slab-fondlers, according to reports. The fabulous soaraway Sun has the story, quoting "a royal insider" as saying that the monarch was introduced to the joys of the iPad by her grandsons Princes Wills and Harry. "The princes think it is hilarious," the person familiar with the royal …

        Stupid jokes - there's always a twat for that...*sigh*

Is there an app for electrocuting people every time they use jokes that have long passed their use-by date (and weren't particularly funny to begin with)??? And if not, why not?

I read that as: Now we know whatever it is, it's not flesh based...

    FAIL

Apple marketeering sinks to new low.

I know they are getting desperate losing everything to Android, but having to get The Sun and Liz Windsor onboard to bolster the brand???

    EPIC FAIL APPLE...

    Warrant

Will they be able to apply for a Royal Warrant ?

Facetime between The Queen and her grandkids - wherever they are in the world... nice but I'm sure someone will point out it's a security risk...

      Nope

IIRC the two ipods were gifts (the 1st being from her grandson, the 2nd as noted in the article from Obama) so the Queen didn't purchase, she would also need to have a continual supply of stuff from Apple for at least 5 years. There is also the fact of who supplied the item, the Queen may use Nokia for instance but purchase all her mobiles from The Carphone Warehouse so TCW gets the Royal Warrant.

So no, no Warrant for Apple - if indeed this story is true.

        You're forgetting..

" she would also need to have a continual supply of stuff from Apple for at least 5 years"

AFAIk it's actually 4 years, but I could be mistaken. However, in those 4 or 5 years you better not screw up because they need to be happy with you for that time..

    The Queen and iPod

Several years ago it was revealed that the Queen had an iPod ... remember Private Eye had a cover of her taking to someone who was explaining "an iPod - its something you take with you to play music wherever you are" with the Queen replying "just like the Coldstream Guards"

    Domestic appliance look & feel

I think one of the big appealing things about these mobile devices is that they are easier for very non-technically minded users to use. At least easier than a desktop. The user interface on the mobile devices has a more simple domestic appliance feel to it than a desktop.

The more computing device customers the better for any of us that earn our livings supporting computing devices. :)

We already knew she had loads of money, now we know it's more money than sense.

Guess we shouldn't be surprised, this is what happens when cousins marry, 6 toes and IQ down the toilet.

    Surely....

Apple will have to supply her with an exclusive rebranded version known as the onePad.

    Advert masquerading as news

Presumably members of the royal family own and use products, both tech and otherwise, from a large range of companies.

Do we get a news story for every one of these?

Nope. Once again, we only get the news coverage because it's advertising for Apple.
