back to article US tech giants take brave immigration stand that has nothing to do with profit whatsoever

Tech goliaths Apple, Facebook, Google and Microsoft are planning to take a stand against the Trump Administration's hardline immigration policy ... because their bottom line demands it. Having sidled up to King Donald in New York City before he took over as US president, tech CEOs have stayed mostly quiet during two of the …

    Slightly OT

On building bridge with the US, Dalia Grybauskaitė, the Lithuanian president, answered: “I don’t think there is a necessity for a bridge. We communicate with the Americans on Twitter.”

"... the sad truth is that the largest and most powerful companies in the world have decided that it is not in their best interests to upset the notoriously petty and thin-skinned Donald Trump, even when his actions go against their and their employees' moral and ethical values.

    We have a capitalist economy

Right away, the GOP wants to roll back securities regulations imposed after the latest market crash, and roll back environmental regulations that save lives as well. It should come as no surprise that capitalists are going to act in their own best interest when Cheetobrains rocks the boat. And they'll get their way. Did you honestly believe we have a government "of, by and for the people?"

The recent imperial orders regarding immigration are perfect examples of how Cheetobrains operates. He throws out a diktat that surely will be squashed by the courts. Then he "negotiates" back to something almost as egregious, but which looks "reasonable" in comparison with the original thrust. Silicon Valley will get what it wants, and so will Cheetobrains. All he wants is to remain in the spotlight. If he has to keep playing Celebrity Asshole to do so, what does he care? Thinking is such a bore.
