    Odd, that figure seems very modest. Positively plausible, even.

    What did he actually do to these servers, to meet this ludicrously low threshold?

      The feds only have jurisdiction if the loss over $5,000. It doesn't mean the loss was $5,000. The actual loss will be taken into account with his sentence, ie the higher the dollar loss, the longer the sentence. The feds have little charts for figuring out how long he'll serve.

    It goes on to say, ironically as it turned out, "The FBI is set to investigate me. I am confident my identity is safe."

    I really can't believe he was stupid enough to post that. Then again, stupidity knows no limits. Methinks he's on his way to hard time.

      Yep. How many times have cybercrim LEOs told us that hackers usually can't resist the urge to boast about their exploits? I wonder how many attacks would go unsolved if the hackers simply kept their traps shut?
