      Are you sure??

Symantec + Veritas happened in 2005. The SHTF with the global economy in 2008. Say what you want about the effects of that merger on both companies. At the end of the day both of them survived that economic downturn. We will never know otherwise, but it is not outside the realm of possibility that one of them may have failed individually had it not been for the financial strength of them together.

We used Backup Exec many moons ago and every version after Symantec was more buggy and bloated.

We used Veritas NetBackup for years and I find one bug, which Symantec fixed in short order.... Veritas OpForce was complex and not supported so well.

The merger was a stupid idea from the start

Why would there be benefit from a AV company buying a disk management & backup software vendor.

    The split was inevitable.

Now there are two companies again but this time, and even more shoddy AV company and an obsolete disk/backup one.
