      For the record, I also would be happy with IRC, which does the vast majority of what people need (apart from some essential features such as giphy), but Slack is where all the cool kids are these days.

    Email? Email is a terrible collaboration tool, especially if you've used IM and have to fall back to it.

      Yeah, especially since people are so poisoned by Outlook now that they are unable to communicate properly by E-Mail, which Outlook seems to make pretty hard with its Full Quotes and overly large, non-delimited signatures which of course must all be HTML.
