    Optical media not obsolete - Yet.

    Well, I don't know about "the rest of the world" but I - in "the Pearl of the Orient" - still make use of the occasional CDROM {I used one to create a WinPE rescue disk just yesterday}..... and I've collected a load of Win 10 set-ups on DVD over the years.

    I've even got a few - seldom used - 3.5" floppy disks which are VERY occasionally called in for "rescue" purposes too.

    Of course YMMV.
