    This should serve as a warning to other companies - getting in a CEO will not change your company fortunes and the total cost in extra benefits (profit sharing, company car etc) far outweighs any benefits the company will make.

    Save your money and spend it on IT staff and engineers !!!

      Or spend that little extra on a decent lawyer, and get your contracts written in the Company's favour.

      And an HR person with enough backbone to tell you how to fire someone properly.

      This should serve as a warning to other companies - getting in a CEO will not change your company fortunes and the total cost in extra benefits (profit sharing, company car etc) far outweighs any benefits the company will make.

      .. and you make it a lot worse if you do that under German labour laws, because they have some *weird* rules. I recall a casino catching someone helping themselves to some of the dosh (an idiotic thing to do, the place is replete with high end cameras running and monitored 24/7), and they couldn't sack the person because some staff board refused it. I think they eventually even had to re-employ the person in the same position: the counting room..

        I find that hard to believe. Theft, even in quite minor cases, is one of the few valid causes for immediate termination.

        One extreme incident was a lady charging her phone without being allowed to do so. Company tried to fire her (not sure it worked) even though the value of the "stolen" power was a fraction of a cent.

        In another case a lady was fired from the bakery she worked in for "stealing" (actually eating) a piece of cake. That piece was supposed to be binned right there and then.
