"5G is still just about attracting attention at MWC in Barcelona"
Truer words etc. Someone buy this guy a drink, please.
While the 5G enthusiasts often hit the headlines with visions of AI-driven robots and virtual reality, many operators remain sceptical of the new business models 5G will drive, at least in the short term. Vasyl Latsanych, CMO at Russia's largest telco, MTS, echoed the sentiments Wireless Watch hears from many of its MNO research …
Latsanych told an investor conference in London: "There is no finalized technology, no network equipment available, no frequency allocation in any of our countries,
Spot on. It is standards and a specific subtype of university people looking for w*nkfest junkets at present. There is no substance.
Depends if you add safety data in real time from cars that just past into/safely through a sector, ahead of you. You're not going to that with a 3G mast next to the M25.
I wish I could get a pound for everytime 5G is headlined/mentioned elsewhere in the media, without a single mention of the large scale rollout of fibre backhaul that would be requred, to service it.
The real time safety data could be broadcast by the car ahead, it doesn't have to go via a tower. That way it will work in areas without coverage, like tunnels.
And while such information is nice to have, it should never be required for self driving cars. Us self driving meatbags don't have such info, and other than maybe some hard braking when we round a curve and found traffic has stopped, it doesn't impede us (generally when accidents result it is because someone isn't paying attention or driving to the conditions, neither of which should be a concern with a self driving car that doesn't get distracted or fail to pay attention to how slippery or foggy it is)
