Disney plotting 15 more years of Star Wars

Did Carrie Fisher die … ?

Really, I can’t find any mention of it whatsoever on The Register.

I just thought it was everybody else’s imagination.

From those of us who did notice, RIP, Ms Fisher.

"Star Wars XVIII: The Batt.... Just hand over your money, you know you're going to"

Yes, too true. I'm not necessarily saying that Disney are going to milk this franchise for all it's worth, but I fear for the future, and fear leads to anger...anger leads to hate...

Star Wars Episode XXXIV: 101 Ewoks

Star Wars Episode LXXXII: Han solo and the Seven Jawa

Personally I can wait for "Jar Jar Binks - His Life and Times." A long time, a very long time, oh so long, please, pretty please.

Wasn't the Falcon origin made known in "Empire Strikes Back"??

Or because you can't have Han Solo without it years before, otherwise the gullible fans won't understand the story and weep, Disney have to introduce it anyway, just like it did with the robots?

Re: Wasn't the Falcon origin made known in "Empire Strikes Back"??

Hush up and just accept that Han "I can make the Kessel run in 12 parsecs" Solo somehow has abilities to warp time and space that nobody else in the galaxy has.

Hmmm, warp time and space? I'm smelling a Star Wars and Dune crossover--"Han Solo: Guild Navigator". Please, PLEASE, nobody tell Disney about that.

Re: Wasn't the Falcon origin made known in "Empire Strikes Back"??

A drug addicted Han Solo would fit the actual audience very well - but I doubt Disney would go that far for now. Or a Wookie still unsure about his sex. But who knows? Marketing could look into new revenue streams...

There is also this plot line

Well, not all robot plot lines have been covered. Like for example this: https://pics.onsizzle.com/are-you-sure-we-should-do-this-i-mean-youre-14754071.png

Who is Hans Solo?

Is it a new character?

"Hans Solo"

He's in the German Star Wars.

Re: Who is Hans Solo?

He is Han's German half-brother. They don't talk much, bit of a language barrier.

And there were those unfortunate rumors about Hans Solo sending Jar-Jar Binks to a labor camp.

"Who is Hans Solo?"

He's the guy that rode the Millennial Falco (#) in a video I owned once. I think "Princess Lay-er" and "Look Skywa*ker" were in it as well.

I'm not sure it was an officially-endorsed spinoff.

(#) A tribute act born too late to remember "Rock Me Amadeus" when it first came out.

"Iger also said the origin of Solo's name will be revealed."

Mrs. Solo: Let's call him Han.

Mr. Solo: Ok.

Money, Money, Money

This is just about making money and nothing to do with expanding the Star Wars story.

The gullible super-fan will lap it up. Those of us who like a good sci-fi movie will just say "Meh" and move along, wishing they'd stopped over 20 years ago.

Re: Money, Money, Money

I agree with this.

My fiancee's 14 year old sister loves Star Wars. This in itself baffles me, as when I was her age no girls at all liked anything sci-fi. Especially in deepest darkest Birmingham. But as a Christmas treat for her I took her to see Rouge One. She enjoyed it, I just sat there wondering what the hell was going on.

But it's all about the money, and they'll whore Star Wars for as much cash as they can get out of it at the expense of a coherrant story line etc.

Less of a surprise that a teenage girl should like Rouge One maybe ;-)

I would have thought Hot Pink 3 would be more popular with teenagers.

Yes, whereas the originals were a charity project from our generous benefactor Mr Lucas.

Honestly? I can't think of many statements more ridiculous than "I won't watch X film because they are trying to make money.".

You really need to stop taking yourself and your Ninja-level Sci-Fi appreciation so seriously.

Getting old ...

And forgetful? Same plot and cast as previously: Baddies have death star, goodies fly in an bomb death star.

Why change a winning formula?

That was quite popular with me as a teenager- I had it on VHS until my Mum discovered it and threw it out.

Rogue 10

You'll be forced to watch it whether you want to or not. The first two weeks you walk past the cinema and they try to coax you inside, "no" will mean "no". Then they'll subtly change the way the pavement works so that putting one foot in front of the other will still lead you into the foyer where heading for the door labelled "Exit" will actually lead you into the theatre. You should have faked an asthma attack and been carried out by an ambulance crew.

Isn't there a risk the directors will go back and ruin the films with service packs?

Overkill

I've actually quite enjoyed the last 2. They were both 'remove your brain's handbrake and enjoy the ride to the bottom of the hill' type stuff. However, massive overkill awaits. I'm expecting 'The Ewok Story' about a strong female lead Ewok who has some kind of epiphany. Or 'Admiral Ackbar : Origins' about how he managed to escape the shrimping net to rise to the top of the rebel fleet.

Re: Overkill

You know Admiral Ackbar had gender issues as a young military academy prodigy (people always greeted him with "It's a Trap!"). These issues need to be examined closely and in sensitive ways.

Surely, those would all be the Star Wars spin off TV series. The films would include titles like "The Search for Ewoks".

SPOILER ALERT

"The CEO also said that recently-departed actor Carrie Fisher will not be digitally resurrected in The Last Jedi and that the scenes that she shot and the film's plot will remain unaltered."

So, given that they killed off Han Solo in the last SW film, I would guess that they had already planned and filmed killing off Gen Leia.

That then leaves the 3rd "new" SW film to bump off Luke and then it completes the entire original SW cast history.

Just some "spin off" films to add in a bit of back story and maybe some extra content to give us some "treats" on how Tarkin got so high up, how about a training film for Stormtroopers, and film of how to build a Millennium Falcon, though there is already a Haynes manual for how to fix one !!

Re: SPOILER ALERT

If you haven't read it, Tarkin [the novel] is presented as flashbacks, but could make a good movie.

Maybe they can figure out how to digitally de-age the late Peter Cushing, that would be cool.

Millennium Falcon

I have a friend who built one from one of those 2 year monthly subscription mags. Does the Haynes manual show you how to fix the Hyperdrive..might be necessary.

His next project is to build a half scale R2D2 which actually works. PP
