        But the tips & corrections link involves mailto link, which people might not want to do e.g. at work & don't want to use / not allowed to use work email for non work communication, & not allowed personal web mail at work (or if they are maybe can't be bothered to copy & paste the email data into webmail and use that).

        If tips and corrections was just simple form submission type of page it would probably get more use .. as it is, far less hassle for people to type "corrections" into article comments than jump through mailto handling hoops

        You will have a point when that goes to an online form instead of expecting one to send a mail one might not even be able to access from the location one reads the article from. Not until then. Considering the El Reg site seems to be running from a one-time programmable ROM chip (see also https) I fully expect the heat death of the universe to occur first.

    Telegram themselves have supplied some info about their security and it was shown to be insecure from the info they gave.

    No independent third party has ever audited it and shown it was secure.
