Its simple.
If they want to get more people interested in learning how to use and implement their kit...lower the barrier to entry.
I once had a full Cisco lab procured via various outlets and it cost a fortune. T'aint cheap.
Same goes for official learning materials etc etc.
Vendors need to wake up and understand that us techies are not the customer we're part of the whole sales process. Without us flogging tat is awful lot harder since clients generally act on our advice.
Ive been moving away from Cisconfor a long time (albeit not intentionally) because im finding better and cheaper hardware.
Since Windows 8 ive been replacing Cisco Aironets left right and centre...doesnt it seem to matter that there have been firmware patches to resolve the known issues (usually with Surfaces)...my clients no longer trust them / willing to pay the extreme price for them.
