On any given day, it might be that the best value TV available just happens to be "Smart". Even if the customer doesn't really want "Smart".
Retail pricing isn't always as naively simple as you assume.
In the long run your assumption is accurate, but perhaps not on a given TV-purchase day.

99% of which will be security compromised by then.
Primarily due to a blanket refusal by the manufacturers to provide through life updates, xref mobile phones, televisions, cars(?) etc.
Having a bunch of (additional) attack vectors on my LAN doesn't sound that appealing, thank you very much, but I'm sure that won't deter you from trying to flog them to me.
