back to article Disney CEO: Dead Steve Jobs choc-blocked me!

Disney CEO Bob Iger would be helping to guide Google these days, were it not for one Steven P. Jobs. The mouseketeer-in-chief said Apple cofounder Steve Jobs convinced him not to take a spot on Google's board a few years ago, citing the ongoing conflict between Apple and the Chocolate Factory. In the new biography Becoming …

"Firmly believing that Google had ripped off Apple's OS"

They did rip-off Apple's OS. Chris De Salvo, a senior engineer in Android is quoted as saying, when the IPhone is released "we are going to have to start over." at that point Android looked like Blackberry OS. They quickly changed it to incorporate mutli-touch navigation paradigms similar to the iPhone.

Now whether they criminally ripped off Apple's OS. That's another matter and no, despite Steve Job's ire, they did not.

Thats one spin it...the other more likely and logical story goes that google were developing multiple prototypes. Poor old Chris De salvo was working on the 'Sooner' model which was dropped as in his own words 'looked so 90s' but they were also developing the 'dream' aka the G1. Not so much copying as all working with the same underlying technologies that were viable for a potential phone product at the same time. Hence the multiple other devices that were being developed around the same time..(.LG Prada )

Nice try on the spin, except what you stated you have made up without any knowledge of the facts and simply isn't true. Chris De Salvo was very senior on the Android project, working across the whole thing. He had no problem saying what he said because he's a straightforward guy who has no particular axe to grind. He was simply fairly (and creditably) acknowledging the iPhone for the influence it had on their work. Talk about Fanboi, the quote comes from the horses mouth and your reaction is to try to demote the guy that said it so you can preserve a little preferred fantasy account of history in your head.

Steve really was quite a visionary, but a dick.

I will not be buying this new biography to gain insights into the blindingly f'in obvious.

    Stop it.

    All the bad points

Steve Jobs really was a twunt, it appears as though he had a multitude of

shitty character traits. Greed, jealousy, avarice, bad tempered, unkind, selfish, not the kind of person that I personally would raise to hero status...

I think that El Reg also helps raising Steve Jobs up, simply creating articles about the man is enough, especially when the articles are not satirical. No points to El Reg there......

Will we raise Warren Buffet, Bill Gates or "Steve Balmer" ( shudder) up to the same status when they die.

Quote of the day, "Apple because Steve" ( see attitude above)...

I'm off to the shooting range "because Gaston"....17, 26, 30....

Jobs was one of the vilest humans of modern times.

Creatively, he was a cul-de-sac. We see this in the iPhone, a *somewhat* innovative product that stagnated virtually immediately, with jobs refusing to give consumers features that they wanted.

Android and the device makers took off like the Japanese did to the auto industry, when America's cars of the 70's and 80's were nothing more than junk.

Features and refinements bought the market up to speed.

And, like bullies do, when he found Google and Samsung wouldn't just cower in a corner he took the easy way out and quit.

And to think he bred some little bastards to carry his genes into the future to further corrupt this earth.

Jobs' Nazi biz model; why the left loves him

Jobs was known for his ruthless approach to business and keen eye for marketing but none of that mattered if he didn't make use a Hitler finesse - brute force!

The left are mind numb robots and he knew there was market for the Nazi VW of PC's - "the people's PC" - just like the Nazi VW was a dictators design for everyone of cars, so is the Apple PC. Only Jobs was smart, he would make a PC he wanted then convince the minions to love it. And like the 10% of the population with natural "follow" characteristics, they followed and loved it. Also like any dictatorially initiated idea, it was over priced, used the same parts as the competitor, and one requirement was that you owned it like a snob elitist who knows better than anyone else. Walla! Apple!
