back to article Microsoft & Paypal link hands, turn round and slap Apple Pay

Microsoft will start supporting PayPal’s "PayPal Here" hardware, so people can buy things with their mobile phones. The partnership, which is only for the US initially, will allow retailers to use a Lumia or Surface to take payments through PayPal. The idea is that they will then want to use Microsoft products rather than …

Apple Pay is (or rather uses) a single international standard. It uses the EMV standard that banks and processors worldwide have agreed upon, though some people assume since Apple is involved it is proprietary. Anywhere Apple Pay is accepted EMV cards or devices which implement EMV will be accepted, and vice versa.

' “all forms of payments”. Hmmm, Bitcoin? '

Actually, yes including Bitcoin, odd as that sounds. Paypal's been plastering billboards all around here (silicon valley) that they have a one-stop solution taking credit, debit, paypal, Bitcoin, etc. Given how notorious Paypal is for freezing accounts because of 'suspicious activity' and conveniently holding onto the dosh, this will be very interesting. Or very predictable.

Ebay/Paypal are rolling in sellers money throughtyhat sem monopoly so is this good news?

As to EMV, why not just say it, CONTACTLESS
